Plenty for sale in the Land Rover mags Envoy, also quite a few on dealer forecourts.
If you are going for a TD5 check the offside rear wheel arch for signs of diesel around the HP fuel filter................. they are notorious for falling off or leaking, if there are any signs of leakage don't touch the car with a bargepole, it seems to be a problem that LR were never able to cure. Having owned a TD5 Auto I can recommend chipping it, the engine was a different tune in the auto version (slightly more powerful) but still sounded very strained. Chipping it makes a big difference to the driving experience. The V8's are very rare but well worth having, and are easily converted to LPG. There can also be problems with cars fitted with the Active Cornering System electronics 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Mine was an auto, the only manuals that I drove were dealer loaners. My ex used to love driving it but when we had a manual loaner she found that the clutch was incredibly heavy on them and also as she was only 5ft 00" tall she had problems reaching the gear lever! She considered trading her 1.8 Freelander1 for an auto version at one stage.

BTW all 7 seater versions of the D2 have Self levelling Suspension at the back only. I think all V8's were autos. Other thing is that the auto is only a 4 speeder with lockup in top.

Another thing to check is that the low range works, not all D2's came with a centre difflock but they could be retro fitted. If you shift the stubby gear lever into low box you should get a light come on in the instrument binnacle, no light then the system has seized, usually due to never having been used! Repairing it can be costly!

Might be worth signing up on the LRUK forums and asking over there what to look out for: http://forum.landrovernet.com/

Or even over on Land Rovers in Action at http://z9.invisionfree.com/Land_Rovers_R_Us/index.php? although I think there are only a few members there who ran/run TD5 D2's 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I had a D2 ES 2.5 Auto and it was a cracking car

It to had active anti roll bars - but they do not make a single sound - they just worked very well - But to get the mostfrom them you need to "fly" into the bends!

Super chipped is the way to go and the ES has plenty of kit for your buck!

The manual 'box is a bit of a dinosaur but the auto was 100%

Why avoid the whole car?

Why not touch with a bargepole? Did the filter leak have consequences? Finding a perfect TD5 might take a while as most wil have some sort of issue Smile Cheers

Oh yes, and in my case big style! Twice my one blew the filter cup thing in the rear wheel arch off and deposited most of a tank full of diesel on the road behind me, which was not nice for the folks following, or my insurance company.
A friend of mine who had one of the facelifted D2s, was driving down the motorway and noticed fluid flowing UP the rear side screen - stopped on the hard shoulder and found that while he hadn't lost the filter cup it was only held on by about 1 thread, fortunately he picked it up before he lost a lot of diesel. This happened to him at least 3 times and continued to happen despite a new set of fuel lines and a new filter being fitted. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I have a 2004 Discovery ES Premium (Top Model - all the extras available at the time) available.

It was the very last of the old shape. 2.7TDi AUTO in Zambezi Silver with Black Leather interior, Sat-Nav, Side Steps, Heated Seats, Privacy Glass to rear. I have owned it from new, fully serviced, new pads and tyres (General Grabber AT2) recently. No accidents, no dents or scratches

Looking for £14,000 to finance an RRSport deal.

Downside - it has done 76,000 miles and I need to fiddle around with completing the existing PCP deal so not instantly available (could take 2-3 weeks)

see:- www.lines-family.com - choose the "Discovery" Page

Happy to meet halfway between Staffordshire and Reading (Banbury??) if you are reasonably interested. 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit

Sorry - should have been 2.5TDI Embarassed

My vehicle before that was a Terrano which was 2.7 and my next vehicle (hopefully) is a 2.7 - so I have that figure ingrained. 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit
