I think I would rather be a rally groupie than a competitor though, and take my Sport to see the wonderful offroad bits.

It's cheaper than the fuel! If you go in as a tourist with your car you get special tax free vouchers for petrol and diesel, but when you get off the ferry you have to declare how much fuel is in the tank and pay duty on what remains, and that isn't cheap.
