Good news!! The Ignition Barrel arrived and I went straight to the dealer's. They changed the barrel and tried it. BOING! BOING! BOING! The beep is still there!!

So they checked it againg. Apparently the key goes right through the barrel and the tip protrudes about 1cm outside. This tip then goes into a plastic contraption called the "Ignition Interlock Module". Right in the centre of this module is the spring-loaded switch. When the key tip hits this switch a signal is sent that the key is in the ignition. When the key is pulled out, the spring releases the switch and a signal is sent 'key out of ignition'.

The module on my car was faulty as the spring was not releasing the switch when the key is taken out - hence the "Key in Ignition" BOING!

This module was changed and so far, touch wood, everything is OK.  Malaysia Boleh!

Today they replaced the wiper washer bottle which was cracked. I think there was a bulletin on this... .

And the PDC ECU was also changed. Hopefully this will help. Malaysia Boleh!

The bongs are certainly irritating, but is there a way of stopping the annoying "follow me home" lights-on feature when exiting at night, other than popping the key back in briefly? If I get out of the car amongst pedestrians, Im always told "left your lights on mate!"

I think there is a feature in the Configurable Features called Headlamp Off Delay. You may need to turn this feature off using the Settings option. Malaysia Boleh!

Thanks Bobby. I did initially scroll though the settings options and only recall the number of seconds delay being available, NOT full cancellation of feature. I'll sit at the dashboard again and scratch my head for a bit longer then?? I'll let you know how it goes.

Brian, would you by any chance be turning the headlamp master switch all the way to position 4? This also activates the headlamp delay mechanism. Try not turning it to position 4.. .
I've not done this before but ... . Malaysia Boleh!

Hi Bobby. Yes, the headlamps are in postion 4 (auto) at all times. Does that mean I cannot cancel the "follow me home" feature at all in this position then, or can I cancel it then restore back to position. Oh dear, all very confusing. Should've stuck with my Reliant Robin!!! Thanks, Brian

Thanks, but if there's no other way of removing the feature, I'll live with it and leave the headlights in automatic mode (4). Im a lazy sod!

This car is full of features that at first we all sem to have issue with, such as the wiper stalk being the wrong side/plane of movement.

Once eyou've had the car long enough, you get used to it.

I quite like this feature, I also use my third keyfob button to switch on the headlights too. Handy at night, especially in winter. The delay you set for the follow me home lights feature is the same for the 3rd button feature too just so you all know. L319 D4 HSE
