Hissing noise from suspension accumulator

It probably originates from taking a hit at some point, but there is a steady hissing noise coming from the air accumulator under the nearside sill on my car. The suspension doesn't drop and it lifts OK, which suggests to me its on the upstream side somehow.

Hopefully, it will be able to go into my local indie this week, but has anyone else had these symptoms?

Also, is there a fitting by which the accumulator can be topped-up with a compressor (if the worst comes to the worst)?

Thanks!

Hugh

Are you sure it is from the accumulator (air tank) because if it was it would be leaking all the time as it has no "on/off" valves as that is done by the central valve block. If you had a leak the air compressor would not be able to achieve the required pressure in the tank and you would get a fault.

Are you sure the sound you are hearing is not the normal "farts" the car does as it self levels etc - so is system exhaust air that is piped to the rear of the car to its muffler and back to the air compressor area where it vents to atmosphere. I have my air compressor covers of at the moment and the exhaust noise is very noticeable.

Hi Gary,

Apart from when it vents after the car is locked, I haven't heard it 'fart' before.

The hissing definitely sounds like it is at the front of the air tank near the front passenger door (RHD), not around the compressor.

Three days later and the car hasn't visibly dropped. I've just sent my wife a text asking her to go and listen to it. Smile

No hissing.

I can't think of anything else in that sort of area that could be hissing. However, I'm not going to take a look without it being up on a proper ramp. Shocked
