Conti Sport Contact 5 SUV or Pirelli Scorpion Verde?

I would greatly appreciate your opinion based on your experience of Conti Sport 5 SUV or Pirelli Scorpion - which is best please?

Not sure if it’s the one you mention but my own conti had to be scrapped due to a puncture. This was made all the more painful as it was almost new. The issue with it was that it had a ring of foam on the inside, that was designed to deaden sound and make the tyre quieter.

This was stuck down with some gooey solution that apparently prevented a patch being stuck on properly. I’ve seen a couple since on eBay that have been repairs but they do look like botched jobs! Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

Ive got 295/40r22 contis on mine & they are really noisy,,i took the original tyres off that were worn & they were conti silent with the foam inside & im tempted to remove my tyres & put the foam in them as its only glued on & hopefully that will quiten them.
As for the fitter saying yours couldn't be repaired Hoppy,,what a load of Censored ,,ive repaired them in the past, you just remove the foam & re-stick with spray on glue that carpet fitters use. Andy.

Thanks guys. I think I will stick with the Pirelli's... I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on my other car and it seems like tyre innovation seems to be sorely lagging for SUV road tyres! I believe the Scorpion's haven't been updated in some time..

I had continentals on a previous car and I wasn't happy with them. I much prefer the Pirellis that I now have on the RRS. Kev

What sort of driving do you do? They are two different types of tyres, if you go for the Sport Contracts a set of winter tyres are essential if you don't want to be "that guy" stuck in the snow in the range rover...

My car came on Conti Cross Contacts which are the direct equivalent to the Scorpion Verde. My first MY18 (rejected after 3 days) was on the Scorpion Verde and they did feel a better tyre.

I only fitted conti’s as you cannot get another premium brand in the 295/40r22’s plus the contis I have on have the rim protector which helps a lot when you clip the kerb by accident. Andy.

Apologies for the thread drift. I have Scorpion Verdes on my 2017 SDV8 with 21" wheels and I find the ride a bit harsh compared to my previous SDV6 with 20" wheels and against the FFRR I had before that

Are there any types of tyre that give a better ride than the Verdes? What about the Michelin Latitude?

Have Continental sorted the edge wear issues? When researching my car, I recall seeing posts about edge wear within a few thousand miles when they were OE fitment. The rest of the tyre was absolutely fine and alignment didn't make any difference. Obviously the central 3/4 was above the 1.6mm so they were legal to use.
