Luxembourg 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
advice wanted... what should I do??

Hello All,

I have not been on here all that much because I also have a D3, and have been asking most of my questions on the D3 forum, but I now would have appreciated your opinion regarding my RRS.

Here is the situation:

I currently have a RRS HSE MY2008, a D3 HSE MY2008 and a FFRR MY2003.

Since I have just bought a D5, I am selling the others, but (here comes the problem)….

The D3 is sold. The FFRR is a lovely vehicle, but has done over 300000Km, and so is really not worth much.

The RRS has now done 213000Km, but in the last 18 months I have:
Replaced the turbo.
Replaced all 4 air struts.
timing belt done.
Rear brake pipes replaced (with alloy pipes, not steel or copper).
all glow plugs replaced.
EGR valves replaced
Altox fitted
Second battery fitted (two AGM batteries).
Bluetooth streaming added
Gearbox completely overhauled (from A-Z) including new mechatronic

To be done:
New compressor ready to be fitted
New air tank to be fitted

The RRS is in REALLY good cosmetic condition. No rust on the panels. Chassis etc almost rust free as well!!

I have the original LR Roof Rack for it, and I also have a second set of tyres and rims (original LR 20") for it.

So... what do I do... do I sell the RRS (I think I should get approx. €12500 for her), or should I unregister her, and set her to the side for a few years until my daughter needs a car, or I decide to use her again.

If I do this, I would cover her (to keep her clean), and put the roof-rack on so that any water drains off well. I would put a battery charger on her to keep the batteries good, and I would probably lift her on to jack stands to stop the wheels going oval.

Do you think that values of the RRS will start to go up? The D3 & D4 prices are slowly starting to stabilise and then go back up again.

What would you do?

Not a good idea to leave a car unused for any length of time.

Hope that helps - with one option, anyway. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Netherlands 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Buckingham Blue

If you invested that sort of money and effort in the RRS, I would keep it.
It might hold its value after a period of time. The new models do not represent the classic LR look anymore (imo).
If you store it in the right way. there shouldn't be any problem. RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux
RRS 3.0 TDV6 gone
LR 3 HSE V8 gone
DiscoveryII V8 Gone
Discovery 1 V8 Gone
Mustang Shelby
Alfa Guilia (classic)

Wishful thinking if you think a 213000Km RRS is going to increase in price. Unless its dry stored in a heated garage it will rust away

Cars are valued by age and mileage, and as your RRS is not in the rare or vintage category it is basically worth little. You have obviously lavished a lot of time, energy and money in keeping it in great condition. So, your choices are, sell it at market value and lose a shed load of dosh, or keep it and enjoy the fruits of your expenditure until it dies - or you go bankrupt.
