Oil level indicator MY 2017

Had several “oil level not available “ when trying to check. Engine hot, car level and left for at least 10 mins. Anybody else had this problem? Dealer confirmed something was wrong and had the car on Tuesday as it’s quite a job apparently. They found oil in the plug and ordered a new sensor. They have now put it all back together and the starter motor is making a loud noise so they are ordering a new starter so might get the car back Monday. So three more days of “in-control” texts telling me the car has been stolen 🙄

My 2016 model had its 3 year service recently, the oil level sensor appeared to report a valid oil level, however, oil in the plug was picked up during the service inspection and the car booked in for replacement of the sensor. Job now done. All okay, except that when I arrived home and checked the oil level, it responded “overfilled, do not drive, engine damage etc”. Rather than have all the hassle and time of reporting this back to the dealer, I simply sucked half a litre of oil out, had a short drive, waited and re-checked. Now reports OK.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

My 2015.5 HSE D used to flash that message up frequently, at the next restart it would disappear and everything was back to normal. It was annoying and I was never able to get it to do it when the car was near to a service bay! It stopped doing it after I had a replacement TFT dash screen after that went black permanently and was replaced under warranty 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - a test car before Seeing if I could go to totally Petrol/Diesel free motoring
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
