Battery voltage

Checked the battery voltage on our 2016 RRS yesterday, as the wife said the timed climate hadn’t come on that morning, it was reading 12.3 volts, whiched seemed low to me, so I charged it over night. Once it was fully charged I checked it again and it was reading 12.9 volts, is this about right?

We purchased it as an approved used in November, and I was told it had a new battery fitted 2016 Fuji White Autobiography SDV6 - Fully loaded with almost every extra! 😁

Check my post "Low Battery Warning (Again)". In it jimbg sent me a table of battery voltages 12.6+ = 100% & 12.32 = 70%

You need to leave the battery unused for 24 hours to get a proper reading. If it's been charged / run then you get surface charge on the plates which gives a false (high) reading.

I wonder why they fitted a new battery in November and why they felt the need to tell you. A battery ought to last more than 2-3 years (car is 2016 so a new battery in 2018 suggests less than 3 year life). Does that point to an alternator or other issue, perhaps, that they were trying to cover? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
