Front and rear polyurethane swaybar bushings








Just want to share with you guys on my past weekend project.

Over the weekend i replaced the front and rear sway bar bushing with polyurethane bushing from lucky 8. The factory rubber bushing was creaking and knocking badly. (The vehicle bushings was replaced by the dealer 3 times already)
I removed all the sway bar brackets, drilled and tapped grease fittings onto the brackets.
Then I drill a hole and cut a channel in the bushing for the grease to lubricate the bushing.
So far so good, No noises and the vehicle feel tighter during turn. 2008 Range Rover Sport S/C

That's actually not quite right. many have tried these so called 'uprated' bushes, incl. the branded ones, and found that they do not last longer that LR OE. Those reported have used them on all terrain, and road, and they then went back to the rubber type.
The marketing would have you believe that they are so much better, but ask the question why are they not fitted at build by the manufacturers? (.. and that's others not just LR).
I tried Polybush branded on a 300Tdi on it's dampers, and they went soft and had to be changed out in a very short space of time.

Advice is avoid, and fit branded LR. The OP experiences of issues with the dealer(Or Indy ?) would need explaining, and it could well be that there are underlying problems elsewhere causing premature failure in the bushes, (If they were real LR OE). There are now many companies purporting to be making bushes of quality, but this is simply not the case. 2011 MY D4 HSE

All 3 pair of sway bar bushings was replaced with oem lr bushing by the LR dealer. The reason the bushing was replaced, the annoying squeak and knock going over uneven road surfaces. I spray silicone lubricant to quiet it down, but it was only temporary. The bushings seem last about 20 to 30k miles. Currently mileage 100450.
Now only time can tell how long the polyurethane bushing will last. I will report back in couple of months to let you know how the bushings holding up. 2008 Range Rover Sport S/C

It depends on the quality of the poly bushes... companies like powerflex offer a lifetime guarantee on them.
They're not fitted by the manufacturer due to costs and will last their manufacturers warranty period...

Aftermarket suppliers make many claims and these are not necessarily true. I know if Indys and private owners alike that have had bad experiences of short service life, and stick to branded OE as a result. This includes the high profile ones.
The colours and smart packaging, incl. marketing for those that 'think' they are 'upgrading' is misleading at best.

Like many things, Brakes being one example which owners seems to debate alot, it comes down to personal choice and what you think is best at the time. 2011 MY D4 HSE

Powerflex front ARBs here fitted about 2 years ago and 20,000 miles. Since then no squeaking or knocking from the front at all. Prior to that, I was going through ARBs/the pain every 10-15k miles. Driving is a lot of country road, fields and some off-roading. Is it firmer? Probably but nothing that I think impacts ride quality.

Rear's have started squeaking a bit now though Sad

Already over 1 year, no noise and the turning still tight, no swaying on turn. 2008 Range Rover Sport S/C

Mine had polyurethane when I purchased it , they were all removed by my indie when it went in for repairs & a service he doesn't recommend them at all, OE ones now on vehicle.

Hey Boxer, why were your bushing replaced? Squeaking?
Poly bushing known to squeak from lack of lubrications.
To prevent squeaking noises, I tap grease fitting into the arb mount brackets.

I went thru 3 set of ARB stock rubber bushings during the life of the vehicle , all were replaced under warranty by the LR dealer.
The last set was knocking and creaking again so I decide to try the poly bushing.
It wasn’t all that difficult replacing the bushing if you have the proper tools and a lift. 2008 Range Rover Sport S/C

Hi Turbostang, I simply bought the RR & searched for an indie by recommendation found a really good one and told him to put right everything he thought needed doing so went with his knowledge & experience, the vehicle did have some rattling from the front when going over speed humps this has all been eliminated now. Goes back in August for its MOT test when the front discs & pads will be replaced.
