DofE has put his RangeRover on its side

Well BBC call it Rolled.

Not sure why he's driving about in these cold conditions.

He's ok and back home.

Another car involved, and it happened near a cross roads

It's an FL2, not a Range Rover. Typical BBC! Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Shouldn`t be driving at 97, state on him. Not as though he has to!!! Doesn`t mention the other driver, typical. Steve.

Internet judge and jury! Just because he’s 97 doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be driving. Blame not fully confirmed yet, but it does look like he may have pulled out of a junction into the path of another car. I’m fairly sure though, that drivers of a much much younger age, maybe even drivers of all generations have had similar incidents happen to them.. So, should any driver who should accidentally pull out of a junction without due care, be restricted from driving?

Your comment is ageist, completely unwarranted. Sure, there comes a time when everyone should hang up their driving gloves, but one accident that frankly could happen to anyone who might misjudge speed, distance or quite simply, not pay sufficient attention for a brief moment before exiting a junction, doesn’t make you a liability for evermore. It’s one road traffic accident, happens on a daily basis to drivers of all age ranges.

Thankfully nobody seriously hurt, a testament to modern car design.

When you get to 60 you should have a medical every 5 years then when 70 have one every year,,If you have a HGV licence like I have ive had to have one every 5 years since being 45,mines due on 21/2 this year as im 55 then when we get to 65 its every year,,im sure that would be a good solution. Andy.

I see that on the BBC news website they state “a replacement similar model has already been delivered to Sandringham House to replace the damaged car” amazing how quick JLR can react when there might be some free publicity involved........ I bet if it were an SDv6 Disco4 with a snapped crank that would also have been replaced without question within 12 hours and no accusations of incorrect driving technique or improper use would ever be leveled at that owner...... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Even if he was Camelrock I doubt anything would happen,,one law for them & another for us,,looking at the pics it seems he pulled out on the other car but you can put money on it it won’t be Philips fault. Andy.

Portugal 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Cairns Blue

Here in Portugal everyone has to renew their drivers licence every 5 years from the age of 50. Each application must be accompanied by a medical report (certificate). From the age of 70 the requirement is every 2 years.

My first experience of this was soon after I moved here when I chose to exchange my UK licence for a Portuguese one, the best option for my circumstances. The medical lasted abput 20 minutes with my local GP and involved an eye-sight test, taking my blood pressure, and a review of my medical history. The medical exam cost 4 euros (June 2018) and it's 30 euros to renew the licence.

Personally, and I know it's contraversial as it's caused many heated debates in various circles over the years, I'd like to see a system in the UK (and here!) where everyone has to pass a driving test every 5 years regardless of age in addition to having to meet certain medical criteria. And more police to enforce it all of course... Whistle Barrie.

I’ve just booked my medical for my hgv & it’s £120 & all they do is take blood pressure then I have to go to Specsavers for eye checkup at more expense. The last time I had a medical at 50 it was £85 & all the doc did was take my blood pressure & fill the form in & he said that will be £85 please,,I replied aren’t you going to check my eye sight,,his reply was you walked in here & sat down without tripping over anything Shocked Andy.
