Best Screen wash and wiper blades

I've recently purchased a L320 Lux Pk which I'm really, really pleased with. On using the washers & wipers the screen started to smear... Big Cry It didn't help it was at night, I literally had to slow right down I couldn't see a thing. I've purchased some new Bosh wiper blades, I was wondering what the best washer fluid is to use that doesn't smear or go jelly like in the bottle to clog the pipes! A friend of mine in the car trade gave me a bottle of Pollytech screenwash I've never heard of it so I'm a bit sceptical about using it?? Cheers Laurence.

I`ve used Decosol as long as I can remember. I`ve tried all sorts over the years but always stuck with Decosol! Steve.

Use Gtechniq G5 or Rain X on your screen. The water blows off. An occasional flick wipe with the wiper is all you need at lower speeds. I have been using it for years & don't know the last time I used screen wash or replaced wiper blades. The only annoying thing is when the car comes back from service they leave a bottle of screenwash in the car as they cant top it up Rolling with laughter

I got some of that but haven’t used it yet! How’s it best applied? Cheers Laurence.

I use Halfords' screen wash, usually the -10degC one. Seems to clean well.

I also use Rain X screen cleaner (rather than the pure Rain X stuff). Again, works well and gives good Rain X performance for a week or so. As I clean the screen regularly, it's no problem that it doesn't last long as it gets topped up regularly. I use Autoglym Fast Glass now and then if there's lots of bug splat on the windscreen. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Make sure your screen is clean. You can clay bar it & wipe with panel wipe. Give the wiper blades a clean too. This may be a bit OCD & you don't have to do this but the main thing is to make sure your screen is clean.
Apply the Rain X all over the DRY screen. I use a paper towel to spread it. Let it dry to a haze then wet a paper towel and wipe it all over the screen, then buff it up with a microfibre towel so your screen is sparkling, then wait till it rains. Up here its about an hour or so Rolling with laughter
I find its really good at night as you don't need the wipers. The quicker you go the faster it blows away. Slow speeds a flick wipe
occasionally
You can use it on all glass, its good on rear window

I've never been a fan of rainX

You have to apply to stuff in such a fussy way.

And when it rains, you get millions of small rain drops on the screen rather than a few large ones.
Refracts the light/vision worse.

Seams a waste of time for me.

How do you find the Bosh blades? They work well for me but I get annoyed as the driver side just touches the A pillar at the end of its stroke and makes a tapping noise. The reason appears to be the cap on the end which makes it wider than the original. When I get chance, I need to see if the cap is practical or simply for aesthetics. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Unipart screenwash is good in my experience and bosch blades seem to last reasonably well.

Personally I found the Bosch ones crap and noisy so binned them and fitted some Michelin Stealth one's instead.

Cheers

Maybe you had a bad pair, or perhaps I've just been very lucky with the last half a dozen sets of bosch's ? Quietest I've ever used and no smearing. Downside is they can lift a bit if going 3 figure speeds.

You need to clean your screen properly before applying anything or deciding on screen wash.....using 0000 wire wool. It`ll be like a new screen. Steve.

+1 for Bosch Aerotwin blades. Just fitted another set to mine for the MOT. Never had an issue. Even managed to get Halfords to price match Amazon (they priced £19 per blade and matched to £13 per blade)
