Hiccup... cured with IID.??

I went to start up my 2005 TDV6 last night and it took 2 attempts! Very unlike her. Then the red airbag warning light came on and stayed on for the short return journey I had to make.

I started her up this morning... again it took 2 attempts. (I always wait for amber coil light to go out before turning it over.) The temperature here was 9 degrees last night, 12 this morning so relatively mild. The red airbag warning light stayed on. I connected up my IID and ran a diagnostic test. A few faults came up but nothing really significant. While clearing the faults the airbag light went out.

On starting her up again the airbag light came on as part of the usual initial fire-up and went straight out as it should. Car started first time. Gave her a run and unless it's my imagination she's running even better than usual.

Gremlins? Funny 5 minutes?? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

I am grateful to those here who suggested I invest in a good IID when I first got her. Fingers crossed she'll carry on behaving like a good girl. Barrie.

Hi it could be your battery on its way out common in the winter months running heaters lights wipers etc the poor starting maybe the battery not spinning the starter motor over quick enough and the airbag light coming on with poor starting and low battery voltage .

Thanks Cu11eyx, unlikely though. The temperature here was not that low and the battery is good. No other issues since the reset. Barrie.

Give the battery a nice full charge with CTEK or similar.

Short trips are not enough to fully charge and in winter it gets worse '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

I believe with some cars the ecu can memorize the charge in the battery had. Therefore when the car is running it will only charge it back up to the last memory of the batteries power. This can be remedied by taking the battery off charging fully then replacing on the car hence the memory will be full and the vehicle will recharge it up to this level.
Not sure if this is the case with the rrsport but worth a try before buying a new battery.
Hope it works..
