Diesel heater webasto

I have the diesel heater in my2010 RRS but not sure how it works if it does at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you have the optional park heating, the FBH (fuel burning heater) is an entirely automatic device. It's used when the external temperature is below about 6 deg C (some are higher than that it seems) and where the coolant temperature is below a certain threshold. I.e. if the engine is cold/cool and the ambient temperature is cold.

The FBH is used to speed up the heating up of the engine so that it gets to its emissions-efficient temperature as quickly as possible.

The FBH won't fire up if the fuel tank is below about 1/4 full, in order to prevent inadvertent emptying of the tank.

Park heating isn't a common option but can be added aftermarket with a suitable kit and activation - needs a suitable device plugging in to the OBD port and settings changed in the car's config files (CCF).

To check if yours is working, on a frosty morning, start the engine and wait a minute. You'll hear the FBH fan kick in (like a jet engine). You might see some smoke from a pipe that exits at the bottom front of the front passenger wheel well. There is usually a smell associated with the FBH running - some say it's a diesel smell, others that's a bit more paraffin-like. After a further minute, the FBH should be fully running and, if you can reach it, you should feel hot exhaust coming from the pipe in the wheel well. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thank you so much for the reply. Very very helpful, I'm glad it's not a case of operator error. I was thinking how do I turn this thing on but now I know I have to buy the additional kit I will.. 👍🏻 😁

Do a search on the forum and you should find a recent-ish thread about the kits etc. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi,
as said ^^^ have a search on here or if you have an hour to kill have a look over on D3 side of things there is Lots of info about the FBH.

You may be able to get the timed climate unlocked on your car as well, no parts needed to buy, depends how organised you are setting the timer.

Although you can not beat being sat in the pub with your car parked across the road and hitting the remote 15 min before your going to drive home Whistle peeps walking past wondering what on earth is happening to the car

Worth checking on topix what your car is supposed to have. I just needed to buy the remote fob and it worked. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

How do you know if you've got what you need to just add the fob? 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

I can't find the the thread on the forum but there's a receiver module in the drivers side boot cubby. If you have it, then you just need the fob to transmit to it. The thread explains how to pair the fob (from memory, you just have to remove and replace a fuse). Merc C220 estate Sport AMG
