Help... Giant stupid wheels...

I recently bought a 2008 TDV8 RRS.

It came with mint condition 22” wheels fitted with brand new 265/35/22 tyres; I’m sure they were expensive and exactly what the previous owner wanted... but they’re not for me.

They are so low in profile, that even dropping down a low kerb almost perpendicular has resulted in a gouge out of the rim. The ride is also quite firm and I have no great interest in running it on oversized wheels. I’m thinking I’d like it back on standard sized wheels with more rubber between me and the road.

Questions:

1. What wheels would be standard for a 2008 (58 plate) RRS TDV8?
2. Which suitable tyres would offer most rim protection?
3. Anybody want some 22” wheels with brand new tyres!?!

That’s very interesting - mine are also black and with brand new Nexxen tyres. Not sure on the make but can look later on... do you have photos of yours? (Also, where are you based?)

Rusk, mine is fitted with 275/45/20’’s and the ride is still a bit harsh. I think this is the biggest standard size, so I would go for the 55 profile tyre combination. Be careful of what wheels you buy though, as they don’t all fit over the front Brembos, assuming thats what you have fitted. Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5
Disco 3 HSE TDV6 2007
Gone 2007 TDV8 RRS1 in Buckingham Blue.

How do know if the knocking at the front has been sorted?

You can hear the knocking at the rear better

If your going to go 55 profile then you really need to be going down to 19” rims.

They look great - I will try to get some photos of mine if I ever get to see daylight again...

As mentioned I think mine are Overfinch, at least that’s what they were described as. What tyres are yours wearing and how much tread etc?

I was led to believe that they’re Overfinch, they have brand new Nexxen (mid-range?) tyres. If I’m putting these up for sale - as I think a lot of VW van enthusiasts put these on their campers - what kind of price should I ask do you think?
