According to the LR brochure for 2005 the boot lengths are:
Seats up - 0.991m
Seats folded - 1.754m

Also in L320 the load area with the seats down is completely flat unlike the later L494 version 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Yes, a nice lot of space, however, I think the measurements provided with "seats folded" is with the front seats as far forward as possible. I'm 6'3" and when I need to fold down the back seats I have to shift the drivers seat forward quite a lot if I want the load space to be completely flat. Barrie.

NOTE !!!

If you are a tall person:

With the rear seats down the front seats can't be in the fully rearward position.

Thankfully due to the upright nature of the car, the result is ok for short trips. Wouldn't recommend it for long frequent trips like this

So if you are test driving a car, I recommend you put the rear seat down, and test the driving position.

1.754mm is floor level so is a reducing length by up to 500mm at roof height due to rake of tailgate, so would depend on what you are trying to fit in at what height how much space you have.

Being tall is not necessarily a problem. It is why you are tall. Do you have long legs or a long back. I am 6’ 1”” but with a long back and relatively short legs and I don’t find any problems with the back seats down, my memory seats go to my preset position, which is very close to fully back.

Forums are great and people really try to help, but driving one is the only way to sort this issue.
