TDV8 Decat downpipes

Currently in discussion with a local exhaust specialist, about producing some stainless steel decat downpipes for the 3.6 TDV8. I can't find anyone producing an off-the-shelf pair of decat downpipes anywhere, unless anyone's knows better, and can point me in said direction Thumbs Up

Prices are yet TBC, and will be a direct replacement, requiring no further modifications. Will have a better idea of price once he has my pipes as a template, jig produced and for test fitting etc. Obviously, the more they manufacture, the cheaper the price will be

This thread is purely to gauge demand Thumbs Up

Ooh that's a bit tempting. So just to cover the likely questions that people may have:
Can you confirm there should be no problem with MOT as cats are not compulsory for diesels?
Should there be a small increase in performance owing to less back pressure?
Main improvement would be a more satisfying exhaust note?

Thanks. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Cats should be visibly present for an MOT. Dummy cats will be in place to satisfy this MOT requirement

Don't expect massive gains in performance, but a little less turbo lag and a little more bottom end power are likely

It will be a little noisier, as the cat does act as a silencer. But again, not hugely so

Thumbs Up

Pipes have been dropped off as a template. Won't be this side of Xmas, as they are flat out

Going to tack together a set, I'll pick them up and check fitment before committing to any number of them

I would be interested in a set for the 4.2SC, they can't be that different to the 3.6tdv8 (can they?). Bow down

Picked these up this morning Cool

Made of 314 Stainless Steel, TIG welded, straight through with cat shell welded in place. Slightly larger bore than standard, but correct size outlet on the slip joint.

Still to test fit, and see if any adjustments are needed, but they fit the jigs made up exactly the same as the standard pipes

Expected cost is £375 + VAT, or £450 inclusive

They look good. Interested to know if they make much difference to performance and sound.
