L494 Service Intervals

I'm sure the info is probably already available somewhere on the site, but could someone please clarify the service schedule for the 3.0 SDV6 (292hp) please?

Is it a straight forward variation between 'Service A' and a bigger 'Service B' at 12k/12 months, 24k/24 months, 36k/36 months etc? If so, can someone clarify which services are due at each interval? I don't know if there are also oil and filter only services scheduled.

I'm trying to clarify what services a car I'm looking at buying will have had and what will be the next due. I will see the full service record when I go across to see them, but the dealer is being a bit vague and I'll have to drive every a long way before I get to see for myself.

Hi,
From the info I have seen it's 1 year or 16k miles which ever comes first 👍 And it's first year A then second B and keep going
If it misses a service by 1k or 1 month then any L/R warranty "May" be void
Happy hunting I am looking for a 306hp
Check if it has a service pack as well which could still be worthwhile

The Evoque and Discovery sport, with the 2.0 diesel, have a 2 year / 21k mile service interval - but the service lights are coming on early due to diesel in the oil. At around 9 months and 9k miles for my wife's. Earlier for some others.

There is a suggestion that the 3.0 diesel in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport suffers the same problem.

Has anyone needed early oil changes in their RRS/FFRR?

My 2016 SDV6 has just started showing a message that an oil service is due in 1,200 miles. The phone app is showing a yellow ‘service due’ alert. It’s only six months and 6,000 miles since the last scheduled service so I am guessing this is due to oil dilution. The car has the five year service pack so I am hoping that an interim oil service will be covered. It is going in to the dealer next week . . . . . Current: 2020 P400e HSE Dynamic

Mine had an oil change at 9 months. I have the service pack. They told me that the service pack also included up to 4 oil changes in addition to those at the full service - they confirmed they will also be changing the oil at service time in a couple of months time. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Thanks, syl. I am hoping my dealer will take the same approach.

Having done some research online, it seems that quite a few Euro 6 diesels are experiencing oil dilution - not just JLR products. Interim oil changes seem like the only solution. Current: 2020 P400e HSE Dynamic

An update: My MY16 SDV6 showed the ‘oil service required’ message 6 months and 6,000 miles after the last service. I took it to the dealer on Wednesday and they changed the engine oil and filter. They confirmed that it was due to oil dilution and said the oil change was carried out under ‘dealer empowerment’ - so no charge and no impact on the 5 year service plan.

The message centre now says 8,000 mile to oil service - I’ll be keeping a close eye on it . . . . Current: 2020 P400e HSE Dynamic

Thanks, Paul. That thread makes a very interesting read. I’m definitely thinking of going for petrol or PHEV next time. Current: 2020 P400e HSE Dynamic

It seems to be a date thing although it comes up in miles. My car is due a service on 22 Nov (one year from the last one) Last week it said service in 1200 miles & today its saying 800miles. In that week its done 5 miles. Mercedes is the same whereas BMW services depends on the way its driven or from memory 2 years. My last BMW said it was due a service after 18000 miles

The service by date actually shows up on the dash as "due in xxxx miles" - it starts at 2000 and reduces by 50 miles a day, regardless of actual mileage. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB
