Peanut butter. Toothpaste.

Peanut butter (smooth) for cleaning rubber trims. Toothpaste for cleaning oxidised headlamps. Both work brilliantly. Wish I'd discovered both before spending £££££££s on car products. Barrie.

You realise that the headlamps have a laquer on them right ?

The toothpaste will take that off and then the plastic underneath will become sunbleached and do that horrible cracking thing that they do.

Have your local body shop polish them and add a new clear coat.

Hi Socast. Thanks for your post. Fortunately this has not happened - whether or not it's because I only used a little or it was the non-abrasive/non-crystallsied paste I don't know but yes, there is probably a risk of damaging the lacquer. I can only speak from experience.

The lights are still looking good to date. They will get a polish and clear coat when the car gets its winter service. Barrie.

It will have been abrasive otherwise it wouldn't have refreshed your headlights. It would be an idea to get them re-laquered as they will bleach pretty quickly.

Can't you just clear coat them yourself??? The head lamps are really easy to remove and a can of clear-coat costs 20 bucks CDN... 3 coats and you're off to the races
