Crankshaft question

I’m looking to purchase a 65 plate RRS autobiography as an Approved Used from a LR dealer, it will obviously have 2 years warranty and has a FLRSH, but where do I stand if I have the dreaded crankshaft failure? Either within the 2 years or after when I extend the warranty.
I have been told the warranty won’t cover it, but LR will as long as it has a FLRSH?

Anyone had any experience of this??

Thanks in advance

John

Warranty won’t cover it, as it’s a design issue

Any contribution from JLR is on a “case by case” basis. Meaning, who knows Rolling Eyes

There is a long thread on here about the crankshaft and warranties. Whilst the insurance company providing the warranty claim "known issue", it's entirely possible that "weasel words" apply and the Ombudsman might well tell them to pay up. The scheme specifically states that it covers the crankshaft and then uses the "known issues" clause in the small print to get out of it. As Land Rover refuse to admit there is an issue, it's possible/likely that the excuse will get thrown out and they will have to pay. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

My local dealer told me that in cases they have experienced LR have covered the cost provided the car has a LR service history and has a LR supplied warranty.

Hi

I purchased a my15 rrs in July and have had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The dealer has had my car for another 3 weeks and I'm still waiting for a date to get the car back. LR customer relations are involved even they have expressed their frustrations with the dealers lack of communication etc.

From the conversations I have had with LR it seems the dealer will deal with any case in what ever way they wish. I have not had any crankshaft issues (yet!), but when I was first looking to purchase this vehicle I specifically asked if the crankshaft issue would be covered. I was told absolutely yes. I'm sure if this issue does arise with the car that they will go back on their word.

Please, please, please, think long and hard about the approved used route. I only purchased this car because of this scheme and it has been a complete joke. Check the vehicle thoroughly before purchase DO NOT trust that the car is how the salesman will tell you.

After buying back in July I have been without the car for approx 5 weeks and counting......, I will post again once I have reached a conclusion with LR.

p.s.

Avoid LR dealers on the southern coast......

Make sure you got everything from the dealer on paper in detail before you buy. A reference to JLR warranty or a generic commitment of the dealership is apparently not enough. RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux
RRS 3.0 TDV6 gone
LR 3 HSE V8 gone
