but had this as a advisory '' Front Inner driveshaft boot poor'' Iv tried searching but no luck .

Give it a good wash with soapy water then cover it in tyre dressing, silicon grease or a similar product for rubber. Let it soak in and reapply where it dries in. After a few hours wipe off the excess. That should help it for a while, it is only an advisory and a good clean and treatment may keep it going for years. 2012 5.0 SC AB

In that case I think there’s only one real option and that’s to pull the drive shaft. If it was an outer you can get a stretchy boot that goes over the outer CV joint to save pulling it of the shaft. But as an inner, I think you need to drain the oil, pull the drive shaft, remove inner CV joint, replace boot, refit inner CV joint with new split ring, refit shaft, fill with oil. 2012 5.0 SC AB

thanks mate appricate the help.im due an oill change so will try to fix it at the same time.

An opportune thread - checking under my car yesterday I noticed one of my inner boots had perished next to the driveshaft end clamp and just a little CV grease had oozed out. I was hoping someone said that there was a split boot available as a replacement but I guess not. My lower suspension arms need doing so it looks as if the shaft will have to stay in until the suspension is done.

hi Garry yes a split boot would be a lot easier,but i think there not as strong as a hole one .good luck with the job. im going to order parts next week hopefully if i get to start my new job. fingers crossed.

Thanks - i have had mixed reults using split boots on different vehicles - didn't work on a subaru I used to own but I have them on the Haflinger I currently own and they are great.

I was looking for a split boot as an interim measure until I replace the front lower control arms when the driveshaft can come out.

What I did do on the Subaru was wrap the boot in cling wrap - not too tight but not too loose - and cable tie each end. The cling wrap is flexible enough to move with the driveshaft and it stops grease being flung about but more importantly stops dirt getting into the CV and killing it. Even with a split boot enough grease seems to stay in wear areas to provide lubrication but if dirt and grit gets in there then there are issues.

in all honesty i dont know. i was just thinking a hole one would be better then a split. but like i say im not sure??

A split boot is a lot easier but it will not last as long as a oem boot so unless it is completely clean and clear of all rubbish/dirt then i would have it done correctly we used to offer this service but you cant guarantee the length it will last
