My16 Forward Alert - emergency braking?

I have a MY16 AB RRS.

Does anyone know the exact spec of the forward alert and assisted cruise control that comes on the car.

I use the forward alert for town traffic which is excellent, but I have never tested to see if it auto brakes in anger. I thought it did have it, but I thought i noticed for the first time on a approach to a roundabout, that the brakes applied?

Same sort of question for the ACC, anyone know the difference between what is on my car, and what they now charge you for on the MY19 models? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Can't comment on any differences between MY16 and MY19 ACC as I never looked into MY19.

I had a MY16 RRS AB and on a couple of occasions I felt the brakes automatically applied along with forward alert beeping. Can't be 100% sure whether the car took control a fraction of a second before I instinctively braked or if there was no action from the car and it was just me. I don't recall reading anything about the car having auto emergency braking. Normally forward alert only beeps. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Hi,

ACC and FA use the same sensor and indications but FA merely “alerts”.

MY 19 has a slight difference in that it has “queue assist” with “Stop & Go”. On 16MY, if ACC brings you to a complete stop in traffic, you have to physically have to press the accelerator to re-engage ACC. On 19 MY if the “stop” is less than 3 sec, the car automatically restarts.

I’ll find out how well it works after 1st March 19!!!

ACC will follow the car in front down to a lower speed. Queue Assist will follow the car all the way to a stop. If your car stops, then it will hold and will not progress until you depress the accelerator slightly. It will then resume.

Emergency Brake Assist will stop the car as quickly as possible if you press the brake pedal hard.

Autonomous Emergency Braking (not sure available on MY16 cars) will stop the car automatically if something/someone steps out in front of you.

on MY16 AB, Addition to Forward Alert, which only provides an warning there's INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY BRAKING

taken from workshop manual.

Intelligent emergency braking reduces the impact velocity if the adaptive speed control module determines that a collision is
unavoidable, even with driver intervention. It is not designed to prevent accidents from occurring. Typical activation of
intelligent emergency braking is approximately 0.8 second before impact. During this 0.8 second period the speed of the
sensing vehicle is reduced, thus reducing the impact energy.

After the intelligent emergency braking function has activated, it is then disabled, as the vehicle is assumed to be damaged.
After the vehicle has been repaired, the intelligent emergency braking function can be re-enabled using Land Rover approved
diagnostic equipment.
The intelligent emergency braking function operates at vehicle speeds down to zero, and will function even when forward alert
and adaptive cruise control are switched off.
