Update on my P400e:

I have now 3.400 km on the car, while I get used to it more and more.

1. Petrol Engine
The car works perfect and smooth, the 4 Zyl Engine sounds good in Dynamic mode, in standard mode it’s quiet enough until you push hard... .
For me the best way to drive fast and quiet is to use eco mode, as the car shifts early and the tourque is there from low rev, it’s quiet, fast and efficient.
In Dynamic mode it runs and feels like a 375 hp petrol 6 Zyl. Engine, very quick and fun to drive.

2. Hybrid
The Car is a perfect Hybrid for long travels, I had trips to Switzerland and Italy, around 450 km one way and I pushed hard, so the battery goes close to empty soon in hybrid mode (around after 150 km). I tried the entered destination to use the planned efficiency, but I got the battery empty after 250 km. As the efficiency is similar, no need for the destination entered every time.
Mind, on Empty battery it is still a hybrid and works like this, very often a few electric meters and engine off.

3. Consumption
- Electric, in cities and on country roads with normal speeds you can get 35-48 km out on battery only.
- Petrol, in petrol only it needs 10-14 liters on 100 km (engine always running)
- Hybrid, (once Battery is empty) that’s the way the car is operating regularly, you can get in countries with speed limits an average consumption of 7.5 - 9.5 liters. This dependes hard on your driving style.
- Hybrid, Plug-in in use as much as possible, you will get in speed limited countries 5-7/l 100 km.

4. My efficiency (assumption on the first results)
I have no speed limit here in Germany and once I go on the highway (I go fast) plan an average consumption of 15l/100 km. This will be 30% of my use, round 50% I can drive efficient in hybrid mode with 7l/100 km. 10% will be electric only in City commute and 10% electric in off-road.
So I assume my 3 years 150.000 km average consumption will be around 12.000 l (8l/100 km) and 5.600 kWh electricity.

5. Fact
For my driving style no cost savings against a diesel, but big savings compared to the RRS petrol options.
I like the drivetrain a lot and if it would get refined by an electronic 6 cyl sound it would be perfect..., as far as an Range Rover Sport can be perfect.

6. The ride
I am very impressed by an much lighter and more direct steering and a suspension that works perfectly for a Range Rover Sport. Very soft and smooth in regular settings and much stiffer with still a bit body roll in dynamic mode.
At all matching to this kind of machine.

7. The look
I haven’t time to make better pictures, but I have few more for the moment.

Great to read a positive report about the performance and consumption. I am very envious of the car but in the UK the cost to buy is simply too much and depreciation on PHEVs is really heavy for private buyers which is a pity as I think it is a great version of the RRS, possibly the best for all round drivability and economy. I will have to look out for a used P400 in a couple of years time unless the IPace becomes more affordable...... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The look of the car just keeps growing on me. The tan interior is not orange after all, as was pointed out above. The paint is very special. Only thing I would have added is privacy glass.

I am not put off by depreciation even as a low mileage private buyer. Probably because I’ll keep it 10 years, it’ll only be worth £10k at the end regardless. I could so often be wafting around London on pure electric. I do not have concerns about reliability. Yes, there maybe glitches, but I expect they will dealt with in the first 3 years. And thereafter, it’s all robust enough - that Ingenium 4 pot, the ZF gearbox and hybrid train. Even batteries are crazy reliable and long lived. I’d be more concerned running a diesel (given my low mileage).

Love the colour combination. Interesting effect of speed on consumption. Here we have pathetic freeway speed limits of 100 to 110km/h. I get 10lit/100km on a 350km journey and 15 around the city with my V8SC, fill up figures not computer.

I wish I could get my phone contact to pair, multiple attempts of re pairing with no joy. Next trip to the stealer will also need to attend to a driver seat which creaks over speed bumps. Little things but annoying.

I have a p400e, the car is great but i just dont think its working like it should!!!

When i start my car its silent (electric mode), when i drive locallly flat roads it stays in electric. The problem is when im driving uphill, it kicks in the petrol engine even though im in ev mode! I can accept if the petrol engine kicked in if i put the pedal down quite far but im not doing that and it kicks in. The weird thing is though the car will not revert back to electric untill i restart the car!!!! I can have 3/4 charge but the car will run on petrol even though the batterys is still almost fill!

I took it to delaers when i initially noticed the issue with it not reverting back and it was better when i got it back after a couple of days, but iv just noticed its gone like it was before, anybody know if the engin needs to come on to reach temp for set period of time when you first put the pedal down? In regards to the ev button l, should it not keep the car in electric Mode all the time? RRSport - 2010

It should stay in electric mode as long as you don’t need to push the pedal above around 60% of the power.
Mine is going uphill electric, but it depends on the % and the speed I want, that the engine could kick in.

I would say, 10% uphill the car must stay in ev mode.

How long before it switches back to electric once the petrol engine has kicked in? Iv just done 2 miles after it kicked in and it didnt switch back to electric! I then switched the car off and on again for it to stay in electric.. RRSport - 2010

Immediately after reducing the needed power. If not, I push the EV button 2 times to re-activate.

Thats what id expect it to do but it doesnt, looks like a trip back to the dealers!

Of the 3 section on the dial, charge, eco and power, i can only push it to a 2/3 of the eco section before the engine starts!

Thats like 40% before it starts the engine and then it doesnt go back off! RRSport - 2010

I had a similar problem once, where the car seemed to favour petrol, even though it had battery power stored, no matter what I did, including when on EV. What I found was that a long journey cleared it. I mainly do short hopes during the week. I can't explain the technicality of why the long journey seemed to solve the issue (mine had just come from the dealer after the fuel sensor recall, so I initially thought it was remapped without me knowing), but it did.

Maybe if the vehicles general batteries are running lower on power, the engine drive batteries 'save' energy in reserve, and a long journey recharges the general batteries back up?

Lets check my update in this thread I noted above at 3.500 km, it’s still actual and I am at 11.000 km‘s now.

Just got a software update for the regular gremlins at infotainment. Got carplay for free included and it works well.

That sounds very good! I have a concern since in Malta temperature goes up to 39 degrees celcius in summer and I think the batteries need to be cooled.
What range are you doing on EV only? I intend to use it on EV mostly unless some power is needed.
