I live in France. Ordered a new Sport in 2006 from a French dealership. I'm taking the car to the UK to have a diagnostic carried out on the gearbox and the UK garage I've given the car details to say they cannot relate to the car's VIN number which is SALLSAA146A934562. Sounds a bit odd to me? Any thoughts?!? Andrew Kennedy

I had a situation similar to this. 18 months ago while still living in the UK I bought an imported RRS from The Netherlands. It was registered in The Netherlands and I went through the process of registering it with DVLA in the UK using data from the Certificate of Conformity. When I first went to a LR garage they said they could not find the car on their system. To cut a long boring story short, they eventually did. From what I gather LR have about 10 different "systems" or "databases". They eventually found mine on an old database and it flagged several recalls that had never been done. If it's a genuine number it'll be there I'm sure. Barrie.
