Hopeless satnav

Well just spent 2 weeks driving around Spain and France and used the satnav to get us to the various over night stops etc. Used the post code for 2 stops (sorry TRIED) to use the post code first one sent us to the next village, luckily we managed to enter the address which got us there. Second time got us to the village but we couldn’t enter the address luckily we found our destination by luck that was after doing about 400 miles we’d tried to bypass going through Paris. We’d driven for 3 hours watching the distance/ time stay pretty static (we had also been trying to use what turned out to be a rubbish map book (Philips France and Spain).
Finally we used said useless satnav to get us to an overnight stop near the Chanel tunnel, this time biting the bullet and going through Paris. It sent us round a different route to what we’ve driven before then decided to put us through a desidely ropey part of the city before putting us back on the same road it had just taken us off Evil or Very Mad bloody thing !
Anyhow we it and the car survived... 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Wales

It does tend to take some odd routes. That's why I wasn't surprised when once my journey home seemed to take a strange route - I hadn't updated the position of 'Home' after buying the car and it was trying to get back to south Wales. Embarassed

When the system changed to a hard drive system in 2007 there was a bug that meant that the car wouldn’t go under a motorway bridge, it took you up the slip road, half way round the roundabout over the motorway and then back down the slip road onto the same motorway. The lady in the dash used to get right angry about performing legal u turns etc if you just stayed on the m’way. Fortunately it wasn’t just LR that suffered the glitch, a couple of other makers using the same system had the same issue, but it took LR way longer to apply the patch to fix it and then they charged for it too Laughing 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I never use the inbuilt satnav. It's useless. I use a combination of Google Maps and the CoPilot app on my phone. I use Google Maps for work - I use the website version to plan the route and then send it to my phone ready for my day. On holidays, I use CoPilot with the appropriate country map. I use the inbuilt and it is fine in terms of accuracy. No issues in 3 years. But, it can be a bit frustrating in that you can be practically on a junction before it advises. MY 2012 yet I had an Evoque with same system (also 2012) that was faultless over 3 years.

It’s still very accurate Wayne, I usually set it but use my iPad on google maps UK and Europe as a back up and it’s never failed me.

It does sometimes take an odd routing but I trust my iPad the most and eventually the Land Rover nav recalculated the route. Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Scotland 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Firenze Red

My car was built I think Nov 2012 so maps likely latest then, and other than the sat nav being painfully slow to input and scroll through menu's, I can't fault the accuracy. Of course I've come across road alterations which causes confusion, but that's just a map update needed. I have CoPilot (have had many free map updates, I think twice a year so can highly recommend it) and Google Maps on my phone but the convenience of a dash displayed sat nav is what I use, and I'm likely to allow myself to be ripped off and buy the latest update once it's released.

Could be. I went down the "sat nav on phone" route with my old MY08 so haven't bothered with the inbuilt system in my new-to-me MY12. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
