National Windscreens

Has anyone had any dealings with this company? My insurance company will force me to use them to change out my cracked screen, but have just looked on trust pilot and it makes for a very high percentage of dissatisfied and angry customers Big Cry 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Cairns Blue

I had mine done last October which was replaced on the driveway. After the work was done I found broken glass on the back seat! which I can only assume came from a sheet over the seats. Anyway very quickly I got the passenger footwell leak fault which was a direct result of the disturbance of the scuttle panel (which obviously has to be done). I put in a complaint and a bloke from a different branch came to investigate. The screen was fitted well but some of the A pillar trim clips were missing and he filled the top holes with PRC/RTV and said it should have been done and will file a report. I received a financial compensation and the refund of the cost for a new cabin filter, as that was the entry root for the water.

Being a new member I wasn't aware of this common leak fault but then was steered in the right direction. So my lessons learned are check the car over thoroughly inside and if you can, watch them fit new A pillar clips if the old ones get broken. If the opportunity presents itself whilst everything is off do the carton method over your cabin filter cut out.

It is illegal for an insurance company to force you to use a specific repairer, certainly for body repairs. They can remove benefits such as a courtesy car if you decide to choose your own repairer, but they cant stop you choosing who works on your car and are obliged to pay up regardless of who you instruct.
I would insist you choose who is going to replace your screen (I would recommend Auto Windscreens who always fit OEM and not Chinese crap) and see where this gets you. Tell them you know the law and want to choose your own repairer. It may or may not go in your favour but it is definately worth a try. Thumbs Up
