Land Rover Insurance - 7 Day Cover

Just called up to get a 7 day cover note for my new Sport only to be told "Sorry it's too expensive sir" and they couldn't offer me a quote! Censored

Apparently they have changed providers recently and the new panel of underwriters are more cautious. Surly LR should of checked this before appointing the new contract?

Has anyone else had the same issue?

I think it was Verex http://verexgroup.com/insurance

He was apologetic but I was very close to losing it, it's not even an SVR!!

I had the same issue with my SVR - they said they wouldn’t be able to offer cover due to my age.

Surely the dealer should sort the 7 day cover as part of their preparation for handing over the vehicle. WHy are you doing it? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

It’s always been the norm for me to complete the 7 day cover note? I thought it was a legal thing?

I can understand age and location as valid reasons as they have to have some boundaries but cost, that shouldn’t be something they aren’t expecting. LR know how expensive the vehicles are so it should be part of the contract they have with the 3rd party...

Seems to me that LR are working very hard at making their Approved Used vehicles pointless. Why pay the extra from a LR dealer when you can get the same vehicle cheaper elsewhere? The warranty seems to be growing holes in it cover and now the carry-over insurance doesn't want to play.

Why pay LR Dealer premiums when you can get the same elsewhere for less and have money to put towards a third party warranty / emergency fund bank account?

Along with the reportedly poor performance from said dealers when handling new car sales, one wonders how the dealers survive... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

They are completely useless, I asked for the 7 day insurance a week in advance of picking the car up on a Sunday, was told it would be sorted on the day. Turned up, they couldn't get it to work online and the providers phone lines were closed on a Sunday. Cue sales guy doing a disappearing act while I spent an hour trying to find a reasonable insurance policy to drive away Censored MY15.5 HSE - SDV6 - Santorini Black

Same with me, as car is over 100k they wouldn’t cover it, (stoopid) they at least offered the 1 day driveway insurance cover, which while it is something, does make me think it is a bit of a scam Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

They wouldn’t cover me at all after I’d had 5 people drive into my car, over the previous 5 years and around 185,000 miles, despite them all being paid out by the third parties’ insurers, without dispute Sad A Fatty owner, just dropping by Smile

I am currently driving on the 7 day drive-away insurance, set it up on Tuesday cover note says from yesterday until next Thursday, yet if I look at the insurance database the registration is showing as uninsured. I have a copy of the cover note in the car just in case plod pulls me.

As for their quote for 12 months approx 3 x LV and double most insurers.
