Electrical gremlins

Hi,
Just recently when I begin a journey I can be a half mile or less into and the radio, heater fan switch off, the interior light comes on and my hazard lights keep flashing.

I can continue the journey but with hazards constantly flashing not such a great idea. If I do keep driving the car can go back to normal within 30 - 60 seconds whereby the radio comes back on, heater fan comes back on and things return to normality.

BUT, if I decide to try and park up and turn the car off then try to start it again when it is in the middle of its melt down then it fails to start at all.

Is there anything specific I should be checking? Thumbs Up RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey

CAN faults. Can be a bastard to track down when intermittent

I read this post recently:
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic35912....p;start=30

...so I was going to check the air suspension control module over at the weekend. Any thoughts guys? Is this something you have replaced as a consequence of this sort of issue? Thumbs Up RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey

Fault codes listed when plugged in to diagnostics and car not in 'hazards flashing doors locking' mode:

Ride level control module (2 faults) C1A20 - Permanent
C434 - Unknown fault code

Fault codes listed when plugged in to diagnostics and car is in 'hazards flashing doors locking' mode:

Instrument cluster control module (1 fault code) U0010 - Medium Speed CAN Communications Bus

TCM - Transmission control module (1 fault codes) and TCCM - Transfer case module control module (1 fault code) U0155 - CAN communication fault with IC

SASM - Steering angle sensor module (1 fault code) U0122 - Lost communication with vehicle dynamics control module

My thoughts about the above codes. When the car is not in crazy hazards flashing doors locking mode, it only shows the codes C1A20 and C434 are these two codes related to the air suspension compressor?

When the car is in crazy mode with hazards flashing doors locking, radio switching off etc; I am getting the TCCM faults. I did have all the plugs for the transmission ecu unplugged at some point, is this maybe a consequence of that, I may have to take the battery out and unplug/plugin all these TCCM connectors again ?

I believe the physical route goes like this:
TCCM (Transmission Control Module)-->CJB (Central Junction Box)-->Hevac (Heating panel-->Ipac (Instrument Panel)-->Radio?

So if the fault is fixed from the TCCM side it should in theory fix all the other fault codes? RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey

Vehicle fault - System Shutting Down

Hi DerrekL,

I have the same issue. Changing the instrument cluster solved the problem?

Indeed it did, once I replaced the instrument cluster all the annoying gremlins like doors locking, hazards on, radio switching off all stopped and was back to normal behaviour. Hope this helps. Thumbs Up RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey
