steering rack

I had both front wheels in the air today trying to find a knock. Thinking it likely to be the ARB's but its not. The knock is coming from the steering rack itself. But as it knocks its moving the other wheel, the same happens whatever side I rock. Start the engine and it disappears with the pump running. Now there are no leaks, so is it likely to be a complete rack, or just the rods and inner joints, its just strange as it moves the opposite wheel as it knocks. Anyone had this before?

What size wheels are you running? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

255 / 55 /18 GGAT, and the lower bushes have been replaced too.
