3.6TDV8 Idle Squeak

Is there 2 AUX belts on these engines?

When i start from cold its quite noisey on take over idling. Anyone else had this issue and what did you do to fix this?

Im thinking its just over 150k now and could do with belts being changed or a tensioner.. let me know what all you have changed in your ownership.

thanks in advance. Thumbs Up

The auxiliary belts (there are two) are supposedly fit-for-life. My TDV8 was still on its original belts at 174k when I sold it.

The tensioner might be causing the squeak but so might the alternator, dynamic response pump, PAS pump, or air con pump. I don't know whether a worn turbo will squeak when cold. That would be a bigger job to sort.

It's going to be one of those things that needs to be traced by sticking your head under the bonnet and listening around the engine bay. Watch out for clothing/hair/jewellery dangling down in to the fan or the belts, obviously. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the reply.. Yeah it sounds like a belt squeaking you can hear it as it is going around and around.. when the engine warms up this noise quietens and is not really noticeable.
