Rear door Lock Doesnt open door from key

Hi ,

Seems my rear passenger door lock doesnt seem to open with a single press of the key (2012 RRS) , From what i can see looks like it doesn't go fully down .

If i use the unlock button inside or press the key again it unlocks fine.

All other doors seem fine tbh and just seems to be this one .

I have two stage locking/Unlocking disabled , and was wondering what else it could be other than replacing maybe the door latch ?

Thanks
Luke

I replaced the left hand rear door lock in my friends Discovery 3 a few years ago for the same problem. It would not lock from the fob but would unlock if the door had been locked manually. On that basis I think you need to replace the door latch/central door locking assembly. Key to replacing the assembly is removing the outer door handle. From memory the rear of the door handle is attached via screw which is easily removed (once the cap at the rear of the handle is removed). The front end of the handle is attached via a splayed lug. To release this splayed lug there is a centre peg which needs pushing out - from memory I pushed from the inside of the door.
Without removing the outer door handle I could see no way of releasing the linkage from the outer door handle release to the latch/lock assembly. I did not need to separate the door wind regulator from the window.
I am assuming the method that I used is applicable the to the RRS which is based on the Discovery.
Note it is likely that you will break the clips of the rear cap of the door handle when you try to remove it - ie it will need to be replaced.

Thanks for that info, Much appreciated ! I am now awaiting my replacement door lock.

I actually bought replacement motors for the oem part but will fit a replacement part and repair the door lock after as a spare Wink

Thanks
Luke

Or you can do this:

For me (on 08 disco) )it didn't help so I've bought new motors and whenever time allows will change them.
