Paying in the sand box with my 2015 RRS supercharged

Took my beast out to play in the sand dunes of Atlantis near Cape Town, truly amazing what this vehicle can do. Sniggers about my low profile tyres from other hardcore 4 x 4 enthusiasts soon turn to cheers as the V8 blasted the dunes, see the link below:

Someone should tell the hardcore enthusiasts that chunky tyres are the worst tyres for sand. Road tyres are great because they don't dig in. Add a Terrain Response system tuned to sand driving and you have the result you showed. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

That's one hell of a bunker. I hoped you went back and raked it over when you finished. Very Happy

1.2 bar had no issues and really gave it horns. Must note when I got back on tar I thought I had done serious damage to my car because when I hit 100km an hour my steering wheel shuddered horrifically. Once all sand was removed from wheel wells and I blasted with a high pressure hose all was 100%.

I can't wait for an outing to Atlantis Dunes, the sand must be nice and hard after all that rain? --

Finally got a chance to take the rangie to the dunes, unfortunately no videos.

Loads of fun power sliding through the sand, nothing beats V8 power in the dunes!!!

The problem with the diehard “Land Rover” owners (ie those who swear that nothing good has come out of Land Rover since the Series 3 stopped production) is 99% have never tried driving one of the modern cars, just because they are modern. They prefer cars that are drafty and let the rain in, crude to drive on road and slow most of the time.
My introduction to using Land Rover products was not a Series or an early Disco or a Defender it was a Freelander 1 TD4 Auto - I got laughted at by the die hards when I took it on a weekend of quite severe off-roading but it didn’t get stuck once unlike their very heavy Defenders and Series vehicles that sank into the deep mud near the entrance to the forest whereas I followed the instructions the Marshal gave me to “put it in Command Shift and put your foot flat to the floor and let the electronics get you through and don’t ease up until you get to firm ground......” Just to prove how capable the Freelander was I was then asked to drive back through the quagmire twice more passed 8 bogged in “real” Land Rovers! I had owned 2 Discoveries before I ever took a car offroad and that Freelander was the car to introduce me to many years of offroad fun and on to Defender ownership when I found the lack of ground clearance of the Freelander was hampering my fun! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
