22 inch tyres

Hi all

Just bought an approved used 2015 RRS yesterday and over the moon with it. Its my first RR so just trying to get used to the experience !
Does anyone have any experience with Toyo Proxes ST ? There is quite a noticeable whine coming from the front of the car when on the motorways, different surfaces pronounce this more, but it is quite loud at best.

The tyres are 285/35/22 and am wondering whether I should change for something else with less road noise. I have had this with my work van when on cheap tyres but when I changed to Goodyears all was well.

Look forward to any advice and must say this site has been a great help so far.

thanks all

For a start they are the wrong load rating for the L494,the Toyos are only 106 when they should be 108 or above. The whining could be the tyres feathering on the inner edge, does it sound like a wheel bearing gone then if so that’s your problem,,stick a set of Pirelli or contis on but the right size,275/40r22’s.Also get your alignment checked if the are feathering.

Thanks for that Andy ill look to replace with the correct sizes.

A bit annoyed though that I've paid a lot of money to a main dealer in good faith and I've to replace all four tyres because they are not suitable for the vehicle !

I think ill go back to the dealer and argue the case.

Thanks again !

If they are the incorrect rated tyre for the vehicle and not rated high enough, as it's a L/R approved used vehicle it should never have been sold with those fitted, I think I would be chasing the dealer to replace them as well, not to sure about your insurance if the tyres are not correct rating for the vehicle either.

Cheers
Col
