Slow Acceleration form standstill then Surge !

Hi got a 2012 RRS , I have noticed ( mostly when cold) if i get to a junction and try and pull away ( as a speed so i dont get hit ) the car seems very slow and even though ive kept the same amount of accelerator pedal pushed down i then suddenly get a surge .

Happens in both Sport and Normal and im unsure if this is a normal characteristic of this car ?

Any one else have this same problem ?

Thanks
Luke

Yes it’s characteristic of the car and super annoying when pulling out into busy traffic. A remap would fix it... Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

My sdv6 was like this at first. The old "roundabout" hesitation was the worst. Do you hold your breath and go for it or just try to time your arrival so as not to stop ?

Some say it is because from stop it moves off in second gear, that is to say, you have to manually select first on your flappy paddles. I can only say that when I had my remap done ages ago by Alive that it cured this problem altogether. And took bhp to 306 and a good slug of extra torque as well. No reliability issues 40k and 2 years later. BAS also come highly recommended on here.

Only downside is certainly at the time a 2012 my could not be remapped by obd port, it was an ecu out job. I took mine to Alive at Louth and they did it while I waited, around 3 hours or so as I recall, but they have fitting agents who may be able to do this if it is still ecu out and not doable via obd.

My 62 plate sdv6 is like this and from what I have read that is normal unless it had a remap.

Odd part is, went back to main dealer for mot and health check which it pass with nothing advised on mot or health check but any hesitation was gone from standstill and it seemed to be in the right gear at the right time constantly with no delay in power.
This was in January and the car has now reverted back to hesitation when trying to pull away in a hurry so what did they do or reset that fixed it if only for a few months.

I will remap mine once out of the warranty as I've heard it transforms the way they drive. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Td6 ? Are we talking about a Sdv6 sport as TD6 was the old straight 6 they used in a vogue.

I think the question here is who did the remap? 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Mine does this as well. You think you have plenty time at roundabouts, Very Happy then suddenly the car coming round is nearly on top of you, Censored then the power kicks in, very disconcerting. I welcome any info on a fix.

Was the remap specifically aimed at this problem ? or was it done for general increase in power ?

It was aimed at better general driveability and at least the ability for better mpg. Power and torque increases are relatively modest at circa 20 percent, and merely take the mk1 to broadly the same outputs as mk2, so no concerns about overstressing engine, gearbox or driveline components.

To answer your specific question I did not do this solely to cure roundabout roulette but it has dealt with that for me and I seldom need to use S mode or paddles except if I am in a terrific hurry. D mode with dynamic mode for twisty bits almost always does it (90 percent plus of the time) now.

My 2012 suffered horrendous delay, until I had a full service and used wynns extreme clean. Seems my injectors were bunged up.

I run the wynns through a couple of times a year and generally dose with millers each fill up.
