Potential New Owner (with a question)

Hi all,
I've just joined the forum and I am going to ask a question straight away. I hope that's not bad etiquette.
Having just reluctantly sold my F type it's my wife's turn to choose the next car, hence we are looking at Range Rover Sports.
Am I correct in thinking that the level of the spec of the car is independent of it being an HSE, HSE dynamic or Autobiography. For example: Active Cruise Control could be on any model and doesn't necessarily mean you can tell if this is included by which version it is?
Now I am writing this, maybe the question is more accurately do I need to find a list of standard features of each of the models?
If anyone could point me in the right direction as it's quite a difficult question to Google.
Regards
Mark
PS. We are looking to spend about £50K for a nice low mileage example with an ivory interior.

I believe HSE or Autobiography is the specification/trim level

Hello Gents,
Thanks for the replies. The links to the brochures make interesting reading and should answer my questions.

Andy,
Thanks for the offer but I think it's going to have to be a diesel.

Regards
Mark

If your going for a diesel I would consider a SDV8 which only comes in Autobiography spec,,keep well away from 3.0 sdv6 with the crankshaft issue.

Oh great! A known problem to contend with. That complicates things.

Have a good read on here before you purchase,,They are probably one of the best cars on the road when they are running ok,,the 3.0 sdv6 has known problems with the crankshaft but LR don't know which cars & it could go at any time without warnings,,as for the svd8 4.4 ive not heard of any serious issues with them & if you have 50k you will probably pick a 2015 with lowish mileage.Plus try & buy from a LR dealer as you will get 2 years LR warranty.Im on my 6th sport & only had 2 minor issues which were dealt with under warranty & I wouldn't buy without LR warranty.

It is a known issue but, in reality, it seems to be a minor risk - LR have sold a lot of 3.0 diesels and crank failures aren't exactly a common occurrence.

I'd go with the SDV8 though - the V8 diesels are good engines but relatively rare. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the advice. It sounds like I should keep an open mind on the 4.4 diesels. I had previously discounted them in my search.

I’m on my 5th V6 having them in Discovery’s as well and i have had no issues, just keep the service history correct and to be honest i use my dealer as then if an issue did occur they can not pass the blame, ive just taken out extended warranty on my disco and the crank is covered as the service history is up to date and all been done by dealer from new. MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

If you can’t find one with ivory interior then cirrus could be an alternative - for example this one on the LR used vehicle search site: http://www.usedvehicles.landrover.co.uk/search#/details/2871776

That one looks pretty stunning but a bit out of my league pricewise.

I'm very tempted with this one and may take a look at the weekend if it's still available.
Maybe someone on here owns it.

That looks like a very nice car - you just need to take a bit more care if buying privately. Don’t forget that you get a full two years warranty if you buy used from a LR dealer - not just the balance of the original warranty (just over a year in this case).

That's a good point. Despite a previous bad experience with JLR extended warranty I would plan to look at adding that again. I will give them a call tomorrow to get an estimate of what it is likely to cost.
