Are you not the one who is looking to buy one so as long as you accept what it is and what the insurance company deem it to be then just pay the premium Whistle

Sounds like I have enough to worry about mechanically with out having to bother with a vehicle that doesn't match its log book. [/s]

I think if i was you i would look at another marque as these can be very expensive to run if they go wrong but it is a risk you take as to how good a sport you get to start with but you will need deep pockets as even tyres are not cheap Thumbs Up

No thanks. Been wanting a Land Rover for years. If i had my way I'd have had a D3 a while ago but her indoors think they are too 'Boxy' so no go. If I play my cards right might be able to convince her on an RRS. Just have to find the right one. Failing that might have to be as new a FL2 as I can find, or heaven forbid an X5. (nothing wrong with an X5, I just think they are a big clinical inside and lack passion)

2nd edit!.....
Just been looking through autotrader again and EVERYTHING that isn't a Land Rover is dull looking (I know looks aren't everything, but..) They all just look naf on the inside. Doesn't help that I love big, proper, 4x4s

However, if I do end up with an RRS and it all goes tits up, feel free to say 'I told you so!" Rolling with laughter

They do look nice inside and out.
Jaguar landrover Italians know how to do interiors.

But it can get boring climbing in every time. I'm 6ft +
And dragging 3 tons around everywhere.
But you get use to it.

Quick look on google and I can see no reference to 3.6 TDV6.

Hence me saying they only changed part of the logbook following an engine change.

If you had a broken 2.7 engine, and knew someone with a cheap/written off v8 going on your door step, I guess it made sence

It wouldn't be worth doing. You'd need a new engine loom, new gearbox (the TDV8 and SC have a stronger 'box), new rear half shafts (the TDV8 uses the same stronger shafts as used on the locking rear diff vehicles). The suspension module uses a different "tune" to the others too so you might need a new module. The TDV8 also has Dynamic Response so you'd need to deal with that - remove the DR pump and fit an idler or something? Unless your 2.7 also happened to have DR which, as an SE, I'd doubt very much. You'd need a different cooling pack too - the TDV8 uses a different radiator and intercooler. You'd also need a fuel cooler and gearbox cooler (they're both different to the 2.7). You'd also need to do an alignment as the TDV8 uses different suspension settings (toe, I think, but I can't remember off the top of my head). You'd really want to fit the Brembo brakes too, to be honest. By the time you've swapped all of them over (assuming your written off TDV8 had them all in good condition, you'd be wondering why you'd started.

A replacement 2.7 engine would be cheaper and easier. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Maybe I should email the seller and ask what teh deal is. Something like..

'Hey Mister, How come your TDV8 hasn't got ACC or Brembos?'

and see what the answer is.

We aren't here to have a discussion as to whether it is sensible or economic to do it.

As the logbook has been changed I can only assume someone has done it! (probably not changed all the parts you would like) Until it is proven a V6 is still under the bonnet, I will assume its been done.

A question that would get a more useful response would be

That car doesn't look like a TDV8 and the logbook states its a TDv6. Has the engine been changed?

Yeah it's been knocked off the it list. 2 favourites at the moment (supposing my better half gives the go ahead!!) are these I think.

Little higher mileage than I would like, but looks tidy.

or this one.

Hate the chrome but that can be dealt with.

Time will tell....

Or the log book has an error on it, which is just as possible. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
