Transmission care

Hi team
As a newbie and still finding my feet with new rangey. Have a couple of questions to ask, I’d been advised by previous owner that when stopped at traffic lights and other longer pauses in driving that it’s good practise to put gearbox in neutral?
I’ve heard a few different views on this so I thought best to ask the members.
Also I’m going to get the brakes done asap and are brembos the way to go ?
Thank you

You don’t say whiat RRS you own, just fill in your profile.

You don’t need to put the car into neutral when you stop for the gearbox’s sake, whereas on older types of auto transmission it could overheat the box, but if you have to stop for a long light or other reason, then keeping your foot on the brake with hot discs can lead to warping, so selecting neutral and parking brake is a good idea. Also I hate sitting behind a car at night with brake lights blinding me for minutes on end if stopped.

As for Brembos personal choice.

This recent thread covered views on whether to use the parking brake at traffic lights etc: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic51276.html

I agree with LandPhil’s comments.

Still getting used to the pull on it, can certainly lift its skirt when required. 👍

Isn't in the owners manual that states to put it in neutral?
