Hi Jock, Nothing really wrong with the Velar its just not in the same league.

Bit quicker, more economical and a little less body role but then its lighter and has a lower CG. Badly let down by the inside, cheap plastic and no storage and I found it cramped after the RRS considering its only about 3" shorter. The car we drove had air suspension and the ride is not too bad but a lot more road noise than the RRS.

Prices for the R Dynamic HSE 300D have come down for MY 19 and there is more standard equipment, its almost up to RRS AB spec. and is very tempting but lots of gadgets don't make it a great car.

When we first drove an RRS over three years ago had only gone 1/2 mile and knew we wanted one, after 300 miles in the Velar over some great 'A' roads I just could not warm to it and on returning was very tempted by the white F Pace in the showroom on shear looks alone.

The Velar is a good car, does everything it should, felt solidly built and no rattles even on Skye's roads - but the RRS is better and we felt worth the extra.

If all is to plan handover is 5th September.

Hi Tim, may be I will see it on my next visit.

They have a lot of 15/65/16 plate RRSs parked out back, all with a sticker price less than I am getting px, so I am well pleased with the deal. I expect if they don't move soon they will be off to auction or they may wait for 4x4 demand to increase in the autumn.

Only slight disappointment is I could not stretch to the 10 spoke black wheels, if you add them the system also adds the black pack which is an extra £1400 for a few bits of black plastic. The dealer is getting the wheel finisher just down the road to powder coat them gloss black before delivery. They did the wheels on our current RRS and the Evoque before and I can highly recommend the quality of their work.

At least yours will be faster!! When I get mine be interesting to compare and see if there are any actual tweaks.

That much is true Smile But I'm thinking because I had the drive pro pack I'd have got the two new automated driving things which would have been nice, don't really care about the SIM or the slower gearbox !

With the SDV8 now matching the SDV6 in MY19 0-60 times, are there any in gear times to see if it is at least still stronger elsewhere on acceleration ?

I had hoped the same but sadly the "drive pro pack" still exists with the same features (Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist)

The new features are only included "Driver Assist Pack"which is a new pack @ £3,300 so wouldn't of been free if you had ended up with a 19!!

Ah so whilst I would have ducked and dived the ridiculous massage seating and spare tyre price additions I would have got stung for that, but have got a free sim.

Well that puts things slightly differently in my eyes I guess as I did like those two options but not sure if I liked them for £3000 especially if they're as unreliable as the rest of JLRs driver assistance tech.

I do wonder what the rest of the in gear times for the SDV8 will be for MY19 and if there's a way to revert the gearbox mapping, I'm guessing not. . .

I've just ordered an SDV8 MY19 HSE. Will be here in October hopefully. Only optioned 825watt Meridian, adaptive cruise and tow pack. Was tempted by laser headlights but would have to see them in action and my dealer hasn't got any demos with them. But at $7000 here I think I will leave them! What's this about the gearbox?
A little disappointed bout gloss black plastic sills. Would have much rather unpainted as there are allot of dirt roads where I live. Even with mud flaps there will be a problem.

Let's hope that the car is as reliable as my current 2014 SDV6. It's been almost faultless and still drives like new. SDV8 arrived and fantastic even the infotainment!
1983 2 door Range Rover ARB Bar X9000 winch ARB Rear Bar now semi retired.
Many big trips done in this one.
1982 Rangerover nearly restored.
22 Defender D250 with lots of stuff for outback touring
Nice 2013 Freelander TD4 manual (for daughter to learn on) with much better stereo compared with previous SD4 SE with Meridian which sounded bad!
2013 Land Rover Defender ute.

My Dealer confirmed that MY19's will have an imbedded sim, so that is a potential £10 a month saving...... Thumbs Up 2010 RR 5.0 Autobiography

I have just had my replacement MY19 build date for early July and collection for the 24th of July......

Thats highly annoying lol, my car is going to maybe be built one week before yours and its an MY18.

They have it pegged for the final week of June if it doesn't get delayed again.

... if it does get delayed, does it become an MY19 car or do they just keep building MY18 cars until they run out of bits.

Hey D.M, they have now pushed my collection date back to mid August, so our build dates probably aren't that close together after all.

To be quite honest I didn't question it, as the whole thing has been a fiasco since first order, so I have taken everything they say with a pinch of salt! I will get excited on the day of collection and I'm actually sat behind the wheel and not before....... Thumbs Up 2010 RR 5.0 Autobiography
