Rear brake squeal

I have had a squeal from the rear brakes for a while but just recently it got really bad just stopping at traffic people would stare at you with the noise

Car has done 20k miles it has the brembo brakes

I took it to my dealer who said pads were down to 4.5mm but discs had a ridge and recommended they should be changed

Anyway long story short dealer wouldn’t cover under warranty but after some technical arguing (I worked for Ferodo for 10years) he agreed that there was a warranty bulitin on rear pad squeal

So I agreed to pay the discs and got the pads changed under warranty to what he said was updated material but I didn’t check the old material code so can’t 100% confirm that

The dealer acknowledged the fronts were a known issue but it took some discussion before he also admitted the rear pad had also a problem

Anyway all fixed and thankfully quiet again 👍 post is just for info for anyone who has similar issue

I have a MY16 SDV8, also 20k miles, and the squeal is horrific.... so im guessing all I need to say is can you replace with the updated version front & rear and if they stutter just mention there is a TB out there for it?

I guess they will try to avoid the warranty like they did on mine but just push them there is lots of stuff on the forums it’s a common issue I think

Brake squeel is about good brakes. This article from Porsche may help you understand that squeel is not a factor of function.
