My First RRS

Hi All,
I finally became a RRS owner.
I bought myself a 2007 2.7 tdv6 HSE. When I got it it had 94k (only covered 12k in last 5 years), supposedly FSH, supposedly EGR's replaced no advisories on last MOT.

I was quite happy and got it for a good price.
I will put some better pics when I wash it.

Since then the fun has begun.

So far I have replaced the brake servo. This was due to engine oil contamination. In my other post I was trying to get JLR to assist in getting this done due to a previous recall repair failure, they refused to help.

Brake servo (again) master cylinder, brake vacuum pump, brake vacuum pipe, Diagnostic brake bleed.

Front suspension arms due to rear bushes worn.

Rear drop link.

Lower boot lock.

Front parking sensors.

EGR valves blanked due to failure.

Compressor replaced, due to failure.

4 Wheel geometry alignment.

Total spend so far £1500

Next plan was new brakes all round and service.

Thinking all was well last week we set off from swindon to Stanstead airport for our holiday. 5 miles down the road the yellow suspension warning light comes on!! I pull off the motorway and stop. I restart the car and all is fine. Another couple of miles down the road the light comes back on, along with transmission fault, parking brake fault and battery light! Censored S*#t myself!!!
Restart and all is fine again. Onward journey we get about half hour from Stanstead and suspension light comes on again and battery light, I continue anyway.
We arrive at meet and greet and get on with holiday.
Week later we are back. Pick up car all is fine. 10 mins down the motorway and dash goes mad. Suspension light, transmission fault, SRS fault, parking brake fault battery light. Some kinda luck we hit a traffic standstill at same time so I turn off car. As we get moving again the dash goes crazy again and then the dash completely cuts out no lights no rev counter nothing. I pull onto hard shoulder and go to restart it but key falls apart in my hand. I have never used that key before as it is the spare, I only took it so I didn't have to take the house keys of the other one before I gave it in at the airport parking. I put key back together and restart car, some warnings stay active but I drive anyway to try and get to services to get off of motorway. Services was about an hour away but made it as car felt ok despite warning lights. After stopping for 10 mins in services restarted car and no warning lights for about 20 mins then transmission and suspension fault only 10 mins from home so drove home. That was 4 days ago and since then I have been using normal key with no problems until today.
This morning I started her up to take misses to work and EML lights up. I stop and restart but it stays on. I plug in the OBD reader and it says system voltage high and P045D code (Exhaust gas recirculation B control circuit high) . I try and clear them but only the system voltage fault clears. Knowing I have blanked the EGR valves I take the misses to work in it any way. As I get back the suspension orange light comes on and then goes red as I turn into our street.
I have only had it 2 months Sad
Any one got any ideas?

Thanks for reading any help much apreciated.

Have a look at battery voltages put a meter across the terminals and check what you have with engine not running and then with engine running battery's and alternators cause loads of warning lights on these also check age of battery Thumbs Up

Probably put a new battery in so that it would work nicely when being test driven.

Is the 12.6V with the engine off and having been left for 24 hours since last used to ensure the surface charge in the plates has dissipated?

The other thing to check is loose earths. There are several around the vehicle and a loose one will throw up a shed load of errors at random times. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The 12.6 was engine just turned off. I will leave it overnight and test in morning. I am afraid she doesn't get 24 hrs rest so i will see what it is after about 14 hrs. I will check all earth leads tomorrow and see how it goes.
Thanks Thumbs Up

No mine normally runs at about 13.8-14.2 but mine is petrol so you may have an issue there do make sure your earths are all good first Thumbs Up

12.2V when the battery has been left standing is a bit low really. If it's at 12.2V after an hour of engine running and with stuff turned on then that suggests the alternator is poorly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If it has a small bottle under the bonnet with a yellow cap and a car on it with an arrow left and right then your car has ACE it’s active cornering enhancement I think also you will.have a yellow picture on the dash board that lights up on start up and then should go out the picture is pretty much the same Thumbs Up
