Steering vibration still

I’m running out of ideas to the cause of my steering vibration. It presents itself at 70 mph +
I’ve had the wheels balanced 4 times now.
New front pads and discs
New front calipers
Back wheels swapped to the front
4 wheel alignment
Full inspection underneath by Land Rover and 2 indepdants

It’s fine on a smooth road but any rough tarmac it vibrates. I can also feel a vibration/fizz through the steering wheel?

With he car still under dealer warranty do I give it back ??
It’s 2011 RRS
8 speed
Covered 87k
20” RRS wheels with 6 month old Davanti tyres

Wheel bearing track rod drop down link ball joint
Obviously Something has a tiny amount of play
In it around the wheel area
The tinyest amount of play will cause vibration
By the time it gets back up to your steering wheel
That is where I would be looking
But it's pin pointing it
Wheel alignment done etc so it can't be
Wheels discs pads
Good luck No friends no favours

It’s strange that nobody can find it. I was told all the suspension bushes were replaced a year before I brought it

Hi,
Hard to say without driving it but i'l throw some things in.....

I know you say you have had the wheels balanced but did they check for a buckled wheel/wheels oval tyre's when it may have been sat for a while so may have flat spotted?

Have you had the ARC/ACE checked, does it feel too stiff on the front end at speed, seized lower arm bolts reducing travel of the lower arms?

Has anyone checked the front diff or shafts?

All the above is probably a long shot but i can't think of anything else on top what you have had checked already.

GL, keep us posted Smile

It’s defiantly a weird one.
The wheels are unmarked (Maybe a refurb)
The steering is light but I don’t have anything to compare it with.
I might try a different tyre place and get them to check for buckles. Just for piece of mind
Only a visual check on the underneath on a ramp

Thanks all for the imput 2011 RRS facelift

Just remembered, I have a 57 TDV8, owned it for 6 years now but when i first had it had this strange vibration under acceleration when the steering wheel was turned slightly to the left, took it back to the dealers (under warranty) two days later they said it was a heat shield touching the column.... i still doubt that to this day but they did cure it whatever it was.

You say it's ok on a smooth road but vibrates on rough tarmac at 70+ mph, do you mean the steering wheel vibrates/shakes or just feels course through the wheel like you have 200 psi in the tyres?

Hope you get it sorted Thumbs Up

i suspect its your cheap davanti tyres that are the fault...get a 'road force' wheel balance and you'll see the difference or try a different set of wheels/tyres.

Are they a cheap tyre?
I must admit it’s the next option :blub: 2011 RRS facelift
