20" - 22" - Any major concerns ?

So I just got myself a nice RRS HSE 2012 in Black with Ivory interior.
It currently has 20" black alloys, but 2 of the tyres only have a few thousand miles left on them.

I really like the look of 22" Rims on an RRS, but wanted to hear from anyone who has gone from 20" to 22". any major difference to the drive and feel of the vehicle ?

I have an L320 with 22" wheels, had no issues with the ride or drive, prefer it feel and looks wise to the 20" ones:

I've only had 22's so can't comment on the change but the ride I have is great and they look wicked Smile Steve.

I had 22's found it a harsh ride. could not go any where near a kerb either. Now got 20's but on 275/45 rubber to fill the arch out and improve ride. Yes the mr's liked the 22's but the 20's have more plus points. I live where there s no dropped kerb so kerb side parking is common. 20's for me now Thumbs Up

Ride was not the biggest factor, the practical ability of rash and damage was more factor. One of the rears suffered a inner side tyre split, garage said probably pinched on kerb. that said other people love their 22's its a personal choice.

my 20's on 275 45

It is personal choice but 40/45 series tyres do give you much better kerb protection even going from 40 to 45 is better Thumbs Up

We went from 20" wheels to 22" wheels, you do feel a bit more of the bumps on bad roads, but generally pretty smooth

Went from standard 20's to 22's with the same size tyre wall so didn't really notice BUT beware I'm pretty sure any warranty claim related to the wheel size may be void - I may be mistaken but the L320 did not have 22's as an option Rolling Eyes
I kept the original alloys to put on for services & a claim for the rear arc bar.

So I swapped out my 20" 275/40 for 22" 285/35 today.

I can hardly notice any difference in the ride to be honest. So I'm happy Smile

^^^

I am a little surprised at people complaining about the harsher ride.

I drove for a few months with 20" wheels then switched to 22" and was a little wary but it was absolutely fine.

Granted kerbing does become an issue if not careful, there is the warranty/insurance factor to consider and going off-road would no doubt be a challenge but but regular drive-wise it was no problem at all.

I have MY2012 that came with Revere 22". After day 60 and 2 cracked rims I left the 22 party and moved to the 20 party and would never ever ever have 22 on a RRS again. I lowered the suspension a few mm to make it look right, wheel arch ratio using a GAP tool, the ride is perfect, it was rough on 22“ . 2018 Telsa MS

I’ve just sold my 22’s with 275/40 tyres to a friend of mine & he says it’s not altered the ride,,in fact he says it handles better as we fitted 30mm spacers to the rear, here’s a pic of them fitted
