England 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

They do this in my village and folk just ignored them.

For 3 days this week “Traffic” have been down for an hour each morning and so far have caught 17 who have either been given a ticket or reported for prosecution......

The locals are over the moon! Rolling with laughter

Jim

France 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

It is a valid point geoffsnook, as whilst they are on the highway as a pedestrian and are entitled to be there as is everybody, if a driver was distracted and something occurred as a result of a course of action taken, then it is possible that it could be used as a defence. Whether or not this has already been tried would be interesting to know and if so I would imagine that there is a ruling or precedent set. I will have a look when I have a spare half hour. Thumbs Up Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

The point about the community speed people is a good one, I am pretty sure “Impersonating a Police officer” is still an offence, and I see a few zealous ons around with the High Viz on, waving the speed gun around like Dirty Harry - at 250m you couldn’t tell the difference. If you felt particularly offended by someone doing this, or you think they are likely to cause an accident, you could always report them as a bit of payback!

It'd be IPO if they stopped the car and told the driver they were a cop and/or asked for payment of "fines". Neutral

A farmer local to us put a hi-vis wearing, speed-gun (hairdryer) totin' scarecrow at the side of the road. It didn't have any police markings but within a day he was told to remove it.
