2005 cd error.

Hi chaps. New to this forum and new to RRS.
I bought a 2005 rrs for the wife on Sat- very nice, however the cd screen says cd error when i try to use it and it won't accept a cd. The 6 disc indicator symbols have no numbers in them so i assume that there are no cds in the unit. Its like its stuck.
Is this repairable or am i doing something wrong? Any advice appreciated.

Ive been trying to get the rear tvs on too. They work but the main dash screen searches but just says 'no disc' even though ive put some in the carrier in the boot. Im hoping the lens is dirty and just needs a clean..

Take it back to the garage where you bought it and tell them to fix/have a look for you if you bought it from a garage that is Thumbs Up

This is bizarre.. The rear dvd screens play normal cds, a lens cleaner that i have (it shows a picture and plays music when cleaning) and a copy dvd of I am Legend. It wont play kosha dvds like Toy Story etc.. Just says 'no disc'.
Is it coding setting somewhere? Im baffled by this.

I wonder if it’s for a different region? I wouldn’t know if the region can be changed or not. 2012 5.0 SC AB

I think you can change the region using a Gap IID Tool (maybe others too but I can't comment on them).
Not sure if there is another way of changing the region without using the IID Tool.
I had similar issues with my 6 Disc CD head unit. Kept getting error message and couldn't eject anything. My Rear DVD system worked fine.
Sorry can't help you with the fix, as I replaced the head unit for a Pioneer one but I did find 4 CD's in the old head unit when I dismantled it. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Right.. Its a region code that needs changing somehow. I went through all the kids dvds and picked out only those that were universal region or region 2 + others and they play ok.
Im still trying to figure out how to change the settings.
As for the cd player- i had a quote of circa £100 to have it repaired so i will see as i may take it apart myself..

Anyhow, I did the first run with the DVD playing in the back... Low and behold my daughter said she felt car sick after 10 min.

But - how do I play a DVD for the back but have the radio for me in the front? I could only get one or the other.

If it's a factory fitted rear DVD system you can put the DVD's in the carrier in the boot and then control from the front Nav screen if DVD is on or off in the back and still listen to the radio in the front. (The rear passengers will need to plug headphones into the door controls if it's anything like mine.)

Hope that helps 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

It is factory.
I was playing a DVD with headphones and I pressed fm on the radio and the sound at the back changed to radio. Did I do it wrong?

From memory (It's too late to go and look tonight) you have an option on the Nav screen when you select DVD? to then choose "rear entertainment".
Don't change the settings on the stereo head unit itself but change them through the Nav screen.
You should see settings for both the left and right rear screens and then you just need to choose "DVD" as opposed to CD or radio (or whatever it says) and then hit the little orange "standby" button for each one.

This then plays the rear DVD cassette to the rear headrests only but still allows you to listen to the radio in the front.

I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow to show you if that helps 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
