Virgin

Hi
I’m not a techie and I’ve been with Virgin for donkeys years and see my monthly bill rise to £80 month for what is basically good broadband service, free phone calls that I don’t use and a recorder for tv.
Don’t do extra channels like sport. So can get BT business router, unlimited fibre and phone for £42 month fixed to length of contract.
Only question is from those in the know how do I manage to record tv programs without the Virgin box?
Any advice most welcome
Cheers

Give virgin a call. They are usually quite good at retaining customers, as it takes so long to recoup the install cost of new customers. MY12 RRS HSE

100mbps broadband, virgin full house TV with BT sports, V6 1Gb box, unlimited free calls anytime, should be about £65 a month or less.

Alternatively, a smart TV with Freeview Play gives you free catchup TV for 7 days in the past. + a USB hard disc will let you record and keep for longer. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

I’m with BT. I get 52Mb broadband (Infinity 1), free calls, caller display for about £20 per month. Add on the line rental which I pay annually to save 2 months rental which I think works out at about £16 per month. So all in cost of about £36 per month. I have a Sony hard drive which cost about £300 some 5 years ago and has 500mb hard drive and twin free view tuners so with the tv as well I can record up to 2 programmes simultaneously whilst watching a 3rd. That does me fine.

My mum opts for the BT option with basic sport as then BT supply the hard drive and even though she doesn’t watch any of the sport it suits her as the hard drive is BT responsibility to maintain. Robin
