Broken Dab arial

Just managed to damage the dab arial plug that plugs in to the radio/head unit, it’s a real tight squeeze and I bent the little metal tangs, anyway can the plug be replaced? Anyone know where the dab arial wire gos from the back of the head unit, is there a connection anywhere under the dash, thanks in advance

I didn't even realise a 06 plate car even have dab radio, thought it came in with the facelift.

Might be worth posting a photo of the damaged plug, could help identify it to see if it can be replaced.

Factory wiring really tight, hard to get the plug to line up square while holding the head unit up close.

It's not DAB, but it is very similar to a fakra connector, that plug looks well and truly goosed though.

You could cut the damaged plug off and replace it with a new one, its a standard co-ax type wire though so may be a bit of a pig to do neatly and also shield from interference.

That is a Fakra plug the colour of it will tell you which one you need, unless you use a sort of Aqua coloured one which is universal fit. As said that will be a real pain to solder and crimp in do in situ. due to limited room I would think.

Oh right, that explains why the plug would not fit the dab unit i was trying to fit, hence the damage! Where could i buy this fitting?

look for a right angled connector though as a straight may foul something to the rear..

May be a pain but if your fitting a DAB head unit, why don’t you fit a dab aerial and save fixing that one? 2012 5.0 SC AB
