TPMS retrofit possible on a MY16?

Hi everyone, I finally picked up a brand new but "old" RRS 5.0 AB. It is a dead stock in the dealer ship and I was able to get it in a big discount

I was suprised that TPMS wasn't fitted on the car and wonder if it is possible to retrofit them? What is the cost like?

Thx!

Hi,

Congratulations. Obviously it could be a region thing but I thought TPMS was standard? It definitely on my MY15 5.0L Autobiography.

Right, I guess due to the stupid car taxation system here in HK, there is some option that got taken out to keep cost low.

Not standard on Australian 2016 either. I would like a retrofit if possible, getting this info for a Touareg was easy , but for most RR owners and dealers it is about the bling so not much concentration on the substance. I would assume it would be possible with addition of a module and some programming, not easy unless you have the right gear. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Why do you need TPMS. Unnecessary

Just check your tyre pressure regularly, like once a month. How hard is that.

As a point of note. Since I had my wheels painted I have not had to add air in less than 6 month intervals.

TPMS has been a mandatory EU requirement for all new cars since 2014(?), so it could be that it is not fitted or an option elsewhere in the world.

TPMS works well when you get an on road puncture. It allows you to stop in time and put a plug in or even stop before damage to the tyre. Getting pressure regularly isn't an issue I have compressor set up at home, it is more to do with when I am out in the bush. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

I HAVE now fitted the Steelmate TPMS. Great result better than factory. Have real time pressure and temp. Did the in tyre sender setup that has an in car sender and app. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
