My 2010 TDV6 RRS at 61k miles has now seized a second engine. The engine specialist says that they only see 1.5l of oil in the engine - not good.

My question is, at what point does the car report low oil level or pressure to the dash and to the fault code computer?

Surely in a modern car you can't drive along without low oil warnings?

Their claim is that my garage did not fill the full 5.5l new oil at the oil change 2k miles previously. Surely if this was the case the computer would be logging fault codes (none seen) or displaying to the dash. What is the minimum viable oil level to allow normal driving?

Having spent £12k for the first engine, I am now in a right old pickle!

I cannot see how this could happen!. IMO, At around 5 liters left in the sump you should have got a warning. RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux
