Lost Locking Wheelnut Key. Which One Do I need?!

Sport L320 2008

Hi Everyone,

I have no locking wheelnut key and need to get my wheels off.
I do not know which key I need. Does anyone know how many different keys there are?

Thanks for your help,

Mike

There are Twenty starting at the letter "A" through to "W" however there will be some letters missing i.e. I, O, Q, if you go to a dealer they should have a kit to remove them and probably be able to tell which key you need

Cheers

The Main dealer is the place to go, although you may have to buy a new set of locknuts. My new S class Merc was delivered with no locknut key. They just removed the locknuts as they have a universal tool & replaced them with a new set. They certainly will not have any locknut keys in stock which fit your car

There will be a small letter stamped on one of your locking nuts, that's all that is needed to order a new one £12.00 Sophie Alltoft

Hi,
If you have a local indep or friendly car sales near by that sells RRS's, pop round and ask them to try their keys in your nuts Shocked
You only need the code letter can then pick up another lock key nut

Or even any neighbours Question

Our car went in for a check some time ago and the garage lost the key Rolling Eyes Tried a couple he had, then the local sales pitch another couple tried then some one came visiting one of the neighbours tried theirs and it was a match, let the garge know and they ordered a new one ( we know the garage well or would have left it for them to sort Laughing )

Thumbs Up

Dan,

Isn't the letter stamped on the end of the missing key, not the locking nut itself ?. otherwise anybody could obtain right key by looking at the nuts.

Firstly, well done and thank you everyone. I had posted my question in several places and I received the fastest, most informed and friendly responses here.

I took your advice and went to my local main dealer.

They wanted £90 to ascertain which key I needed so I declined. There are indeed 20 lettered keys one of which will fit my locking nut. I am now awaiting delivery of a complete set which will save me a lot of time driving/phoning around
to find someone who will sort it for free.

I had this exact issue a couple of weeks ago, I went to Land Rover Wimbledon, they have a “master set” and simply tried each one till they found the one that fit, sold me that one then and there, and ordered one in to replace the one in their set.
Very helpful and cost about £12.

For anyone with this issue in the area, hope this helps!

Yes, dealers vary substantially.

My set of keys has now arrived and the issue is sorted. I am keeping them to help firends and have warned my mates and anyone reading this to make a record of their key code. It should be in the vehicle documentation but, asking around, does not appear to be so in every case.
