NOT my day! Now can’t open tailgate!!

I’m telling you my car doesn’t want to go!, not only has my fuel gauge decided to start acting up, I thought I would remove the drivers wheel and inner wheel arch, so after getting the car jack stands etc already, I try to open my tailgate to grab my tools and nothing, can’t open the glass top, or the main bottom. The door is not loose, got no messages on dash sayin* tailgate open, and got no solenoid noise when pushing the boot release from either the main button or keyfob. Is it no wonder I’m selling up, well trying to.

How common is it for the actual button to be faulty.? It’s taken me several hours many thumps a lot of swearing and kicking the waste bin over! In the end It was ust the non stop get jabbing at the boot button then all of a sudden I heard click and the boot popped open. So I’ve removed the interior panel for now (just in case,) but I’m wandering if it may be the actual button that was at fault.

I've got the same problem it worked perfectly when I checked at the dealers got it home and it wouldn't open. Took out the switch and it looked brand new but tested it any way working fine so either a broken connection or lock has gone bandit but I'll live with it for now. If it ain't broken down it soon will

2 things to note to eliminate the switch

1. program the LR fob button to do the boot.
Hold LR button down and then press the boot release to program
Best to do this when its working!

2. On the dash holding the lock and unlock buttons down for 5 seconds should open the tailgate

Tried the button on dash thing, nothing happened. Does the ignition need to be in a certain position?

maybe the car might benefit from a battery disconnection for 15 mins

Make sure the car is parked sensibly just incase things get worse!

Car just needs to be unlocked for the dash button trick to work.

Eliminated the switch and it's wiring.
