2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
Sport Cruise Control

Hi I have a problem with my cruise control on my TdV8. When trying to engage the dash indicated that the cruise is not available. The car has the ACC fitted?
Put it on a diagnostic machine and it registered a forward speed sensor fault? Could this be linked to the fault?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Regards jim

Surely it's not the most obvious cause - front sensor obscured by a layer of snow/dirt?

Assuming it's something more complicated - the most common problems are with the wiring in the wheel: the clock spring or switchpack. Search the site or use Google and you'll find plenty of information. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks for the update and your thoughts... there isn’t anything blocking the ACC, must be a wiring issue. Would a diagnostic pick this up?

It depends on the diagnostic being used. For faults like this it is necessary to use a reader that picks up Land Rover specific codes and not just generic OBD2 codes.

The fault codes generally provide clues that an experienced technician can interpret to narrow down the areas to look at. Given the Land Rover codes you can look them up in the workshop manual where there are descriptions for how to investigate further.

Unless you are doing the work yourself, go to a good recommended independent but not a franchised dealer as they sadly have a reputation for incompetence, sky high charges and downright untruthfulness. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
